Provincial road 768 is the arterial traffic route of Vinh Cuu District. However, at present, this road has been seriously degraded, affecting the circulation of vehicles.
Accelerating the progress of renovation and expansion provincial road 768 project (the section from Thu Bien overpass, Tan An commune to the intersection with provincial road 767, Vinh An town) will create a driving force for Vinh Cuu District to accelerate socio-economic development.

Deterioration of arterial road
Provincial road 768, section from Thu Bien overpass, Tan An commune to the intersection with provincial road 767, Vinh An town is the arterial road connecting Vinh Cuu District with Bien Hoa City and Tan Uyen Town (Binh Duong Province). According to Mr. Pham Minh Phuoc, Chairman of Vinh Cuu District People’s Committee, along with provincial roads 767, 762, provincial road 768 is one of the main transport links between Vinh Cuu District and neighboring localities. However, for many years, the gateway traffic route of Vinh Cuu District has been seriously degraded. On this route appears dense “potholes” affecting the circulation of vehicles.
Mr. Tran Van Lam, a resident of Tan An commune, said that for many years, this road has been severely degraded, so vehicles are very difficult to travel, especially when it rains. “In many sections, the road surface is peeling off in large patches, so it is difficult for vehicles to move around. Besides, the risk of traffic accidents is also very large”- said Mr. Lam.
Not only degraded, at present, the road surface of 768 province has also become too narrow compared to the density of vehicles traveling through this route. As the main connecting traffic route of Vinh Cuu District, so traffic traffic on provincial road 768 has increased gradually, especially dump trucks carrying construction materials and intercity bus routes. However, the narrow road surface of the current 768 road is only enough for 2 cars in the same lane, making it difficult for motorcyclists to avoid large trucks every time they drive through dense potholes on the road.
Speeding up the project’s commencement
Provincial Road 768 improvement project is one of four key projects under the Resolution of the Provincial People’s Council term IX (term 2016-2021). In 2019, the Provincial People’s Committee (PPC) assigned the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Unit to act as an investor in the project to renovate and upgrade provincial road 768 with a length of about 20km from Thu Bien overpass to intersection with Provincial Road 767, Vinh An town. According to the plan, Road 768 will be upgraded and expanded the existing foundation to 10.5m, including: asphalt pavement width of 7.5m, hard shoulder width of 2m (1m wide for each), land shoulder width of 1m (0.5m wide for each).
Director of Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Unit Le Quang Binh said that this unit is currently completing the construction drawing design documents - construction cost estimates for the Provincial Road 768 improvement project. As for site clearance, Mr. Pham Minh Phuoc said that the site clearance item has been split into sub-project and the PPC has assigned Vinh Cuu District People’s Committee as an investor. Currently, this locality is urgently completing the procedures for pricing, approving compensation and support plans to soon hand over the ground to the investor to start the project. “Currently, the PPC has approved land prices to calculate compensation and support prices for people whose land is acquired. The district authorities are also implementing the next steps in the land acquisition and site clearance process. Vinh Cuu District People’s Committee will hand over the site to the investor according to the set schedule” - said Mr. Phuoc.
Particularly, the People’s Committee of Vinh Cuu District must focus its forces urgently on compensation, support and resettlement to hand over the site to the investor according to the prescribed schedule.
