Specifically, fishing reached nearly 38.6 thousand tons, increased more than 5.7%; shrimp output reached over 4.8 thousand tons, rose up nearly 1.95%. Despite market difficulties due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the output of cultured aquatic products has increased significantly because people have paid attention to investing in science and technology in raising and taking care of breeders. Strengthen epidemic prevention in order to limit epidemic outbreaks. The form of aquaculture on the water surface has gradually shifted from improved extensive and considerable farming to intensive and semi-intensive farming.
According to Decision No. 993/QD-UBND of the Provincial People's Committee issued in the first quarter of 2020, in the list of key agricultural products at the provincial level in the period 2020-2025, there are 24 crops and 5 main livestock products. Terrestrial livestock products include pigs and chickens; Aquatic products include white shrimp, crayfish, and fish. In the new phase, the province continues to encourage the development of the aquaculture industry in the direction of safety, branding with quality reputation.
Up to now, the province has formed 8 aquaculture areas meeting VietGAP standards. VietGAP certified seafood products are very diverse including: crayfish, white shrimp, tra fish, snakehead fish, anabas ... The total area of VietGAP-certified aquaculture in the province is more than 140 ha and 3.4 thousand m3 cages and rafts with a total production of over 9.1 thousand tons /year, accounting for more than 14% of the province's total aquaculture production.
