Raising Awareness amongst Workers of COVID-19 Pandemic Prevention

Strengthen propaganda

Accordingly, the Grassroots Trade Unions (GTU) has propagated widely in the enterprise and reminded union members and employees to protect their health, continue to adhere to the wearing of masks at work, public places and disease prevention measures; Meanwhile, actively coordinating with employers to perform body temperature checks, washing & sanitizing hands, carrying out sterilization of machines, equipment, work areas; ensuring enough masks for employees when working and producing.

In order for the propaganda work to be effective, up to now, the GTUs have used the loudspeaker system, regularly and continuously announcing recommendations, warnings and guidelines of the Ministry of Health on epidemic prevention. Along with that, restarting effective epidemic prevention measures in recent years, enhancing tighter control for employees to feel secure to work. Meanwhile, conducting propaganda for employees to share difficulties with enterprises, trying to keep production and employment stable to ensure income and life for employees.

The Chairman of the Labor Confederation of Trang Bom district Le Duc Thuy said that, as a concentrated area of workers, immediately upon receiving the document from the provincial Labor Confederation on strengthening epidemic prevention measures, the district Labor Confederation promptly instructed the GTUs to implement and proactively implement effective epidemic prevention measures at enterprises. Accordingly, on the first day of implementing the said instructions, more than 91% of the communal community in the district organized the epidemic prevention among workers such as: wearing masks, equipped with antiseptics and disinfectants, body-temperature check and hanging of propaganda banners in easy-to-see and receptive places, etc.

Many disease control measures

One of the enterprises with a large concentration of labor force implementing the epidemic prevention measures well in Trang Bom district is the GTU of Pousung Vietnam Company Limited. In addition to invest in automatic temperature measuring system continuously since March, this company also has a fixed arrangement of antiseptic gel bottles for workers to wash their hands. Along with that, this Company also takes advantage of available materials, designs mica plastic partitions and leather panels in the dining area to help employees ensure safety when eating. There are posters around these partitions to further improve the propaganda on prevention of epidemic diseases for employees. Currently, the whole company has nearly 20 restaurants with fixed partitions.

Mr. Vay Kenh Va, General Manager, Cafeteria Manager of Pousung Vietnam Co., Ltd. said that the Company has a team that continuously checks the quality of meals from the input food to the processing, preparing tools, cleaning the dining room to the quality of dishes and opinions of employees. Each week, the employee's opinion will be synthesized to change dishes accordingly. In particular, the company has also equipped separate partitions for workers to eat. Hand sanitizer is provided at the dining table and dining area; Television and loudspeakers are also arranged to propagate to workers that they must wash their hands before eating, and maintain general hygiene to prevent Covid-19 disease.

According to the officials of the GTU, the acumen and proactive implementation of measures to prevent epidemics and timely propaganda not only help employees understand and cooperate with enterprises to stabilize production, but also raise employees' awareness in keeping a safe working environment. In fact, in enterprises, workers may not be direct travelers, but there may be relatives or neighbors traveling in epidemic areas. Therefore, the GTU propagates to the employees to give truthful declarations in order to have appropriate, timely and prevent the spread of disease from occurring.

Vice Chairman of the Labor Confederation of Long Thanh District Dao Thi Kim Loan said that since the epidemic reappeared, businesses in the district have restarted their epidemic prevention plans as before, but the propaganda has been intensified and drastically to raise the employees' awareness,  to be stable mentally, do not panic or publish false information about the epidemic, affecting employment and self. In addition, the GTU also advises new ways to help businesses protect well human resources such as: distance keeping when check in or out, distributing medical masks & fabric masks weekly, control of the work environment, cafeteria, lunch break, etc regularly, helping employees to prevent diseases properly.
