Thanh Son to run out of “dependency” on ferry

​This is a long-awaited project because it will facilitate the transportation of goods and agricultural products in Thanh Son commune (Dinh Quan district), which contributes to improving the quality of people’s lives in this region.

For many years, all transport activities going out from Thanh Son commune have to go through ferry, which is very unsafe. 

Trade will no longer be interrupted

Thanh Son commune mainly develops agriculture with thousands hectares of fruit trees and production forests. Therefore, this issue has a great demand for annual transportation of agricultural and forestry products. Not only people living in Thanh Son commune, but also people in neighboring areas that have productive land in Thanh Son or have trade with people in Thanh Son commune are equally happy when Thanh Son Bridge officially commenced. Mr. Pham Huy Hoang (Dinh Quan town), who specializes in transporting fruit goods to barns in the district, said that when he heard that Thanh Son commune had a new bridge, he himself and many other relatives were very happy. Mr. Hoang shared that Thanh Son in recent years has developed very strongly despite being ‘blocked’ by rivers. Therefore, he said that when the project has already been started, the functional departments need to supervise and speed up the progress so that people can travel quickly, create conditions for developing stronger family economy.

Mrs. Ho Thi Khanh (Hoa Thanh hamlet, Ngoc Dinh commune), which currently has cultivated land in Thanh Son commune, was equally happy when Thanh Son Bridge was inaugurated. According to Ms. Khanh, the inauguration of Thanh Son Bridge is a shared joy of the people of Dinh Quan, especially with Thanh Son commune, most people will be happier when the bridge is inaugurated, because if the bridge exists, the transportation and transportation of goods will be more convenient, promoting Thanh Son commune's development.  Even many families whose land is included in the bridge construction project happily accept the land cut, they just hope the bridge is formed soon..

The joy of local people

In 2016, Thanh Son suspension bridge was invested, but it is too small in scale, serving only the circulation of motorcycles and cars with a tonnage of less than 2 tons. Therefore, people still have to depend on the 107 ferry routes for cargo traffic. The construction of Thanh Son bridge is of utmost importance to the local socio-economic development and contributes to traffic connection in the district.

According to the plan, the newly built Thanh Son bridge consists of 6 span prestressed reinforced concrete beams. The bridge is more than 198m long, 9m wide, and 7m wide. The total investment to build Thanh Son bridge is more than VND 138 billion, of which construction cost is over VND 91 billion, compensation, support and resettlement cost is over VND 15.6 billion.

It is known that the households whose land is in the bridge construction plan are very please and cooperating with the local authority to hand over their ground so that the project of building Thanh Son bridge will soon be implemented. Mr. Nguyen Van Xuyen, living in Thanh Son commune shared that everyone here agreed to support. “We have been looking forward to the project implementation, as the demand for transporting goods in and out of Thanh Son is huge and increases day by day, especially the current harvest season, tree trucks are always full. It was very unsafe to get on the ferry”. - Mr. Xuyen added.

Sharing with the common joy, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dinh Quan district Tran Quang Tu said that for a long time, Thanh Son bridge is not only the wishes of the people but also the concern of both leaders and people in the district. “Thanh Son commune has many potentialities for economic development. In recent years, Thanh Son has developed strongly but has not fully exploited its potential. Therefore, when traffic is smooth, Thanh Son can connect with neighboring districts and provinces such as Vinh Cuu district, Binh Duong province. In addition, convenient transportation also helps the locality to exploit the potential for tourism, cultural and social exchanges, promoting comprehensive development for Thanh Son.”  - Mr. Tu emphasized.
