Developing promotion channels of OCOP products by Tourism

In recent years, many localities in the province have implemented the connection of OCOP products (“One Commune One Product”) to tourism activities, which both contribute to the development of local tourism, while building and promoting brands for districts’ typical products.

More connection channels

 

Currently, many stops are being invested to build on national highways and roads connecting to tourist sites of the province. This helps to the promotion and distribution of local specialty products, including OCOP products.

 

Mr. Pho Dinh Trung, representative of Cuong Hoa Dried Fruit Establishment - an establishment with OCOP certified products in Thong Nhat Distric, said that his facility associates with distribution units to supply his products to local stops with an average output of about 400-500kg/day, mainly to serve tourists and those traveling on the HCMC - Da Lat route.

 

Similarly, Ms. Liu Thi Yen, Sales Manager of Thuan Huong Trading and Production Co., Ltd. (Dinh Quan District) - an enterprise with OCOP certified products in Dinh Quan District said that besides traditional distribution channels, in recent years, this enterprise has also distributed directly dried fruit products to about 10 stop stations in the area and some neighboring areas. This is also a distribution channel that such enterprise aims to introduce and promote its products.

 

Vice Chairman of Vinh Cuu District People's Committee Nguyen Quang Phuong said that many farms and local strong fruits such as pomelo, mango,… are being invested in deep processing and organic production by many cooperatives and enterprises with many new products such as: pomelo essential oil, pomelo jam, dried mango, and mango juice, etc., are being researched and developed. In the coming time, the district will continue to register trademarks, tend to develop the above products into OCOP products, as well as supporting farmers to connect, promote its products associated with local tourism development activities.

 

Expanding many exhibition booths

Some businesses also actively build stops to both promote products and develop local garden eco-tourism. Mr. Dang Tuong Khanh, Director of Cacao Trong Duc Company Limited (Phu Hoa Commune, Dinh Quan District) opened a Cocoa World Tourism And Commercial Service area.

“This is a stopover for visitors to visit the cocoa garden, directly listen to the introduction of the process from fruit collection, preliminary processing to the processing of wine, chocolate and other products from cocoa pods; To enjoy specialties processed from cocoa pods, buy gifts, and so on. At the same time, this is also a place to promote the company's OCOP-certified products. Currently, in the peak tourist season, each month, my tourist destination, Cocoa World, attracts about 40,000 visitors”- Mr. Khanh shared.

 

Mr. Le Van Loc, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said that in addition to building showrooms to display, promote OCOP products (‘One Commune One Product’ Program) and and typical rural industrial products, pilot opening booths for OCOP products of the province at supermarkets & trade centers, iIn the coming time, said Department is expected to coordinate with related departments, branches and localities to open exhibition booths and promote OCOP products in tourist areas and destinations in the province. In the immediate future, there will be a pilot display in Cat Tien National Park (Tan Phu District) to introduce catalogs, display and promote OCOP products of the province to domestic and foreign tourists.
