Quang Trung waste treatment plant ensures landfill waste below 15%

​Currently, Quang Trung WTP is receiving domestic solid waste generated from 8 districts and cities with the volume of about 1,100 tons per day and treated by compost method to ensure the landfill to less than 15%.

To supervise the implementation of environmental protection requirements, Thong Nhat District People's Committee established a monitoring team at the treatment area. This mission regularly organizes field surveys, measurement and collection of ambient gas samples at different times in the area where people reflect on the bad odor generation.

Since 2016, annually, the MONRE has monitored the quality of underground water and soil environment in the vicinity of Quang Trung WTP. Through synthesis of the results of environmental monitoring in the vicinity of Quang Trung WTP, it shows that the observed components are less volatile, the quality of underground water, the quality of the soil environment are under the control limits.

In addition, there has also been a periodic monitoring of the environmental protection of the treatment area, thereby recognizing that the Company has added many solutions to minimize odors at potential sources such as: wastewater treatment plants and liquefaction treatment stations have been installed stainless steel lids in the wastewater storage tanks at the treatment stage to limit odor spread; Factory area receiving domestic waste (main source of odors): a new odor treatment system is invested with odor absorption treatment technology, and has been put into operation since May 2019.

In addition, the Company also strengthens the bio-product spraying systems to deodorize the garbage receiving door areas; Installs more spray systems at the door areas of the Factory; entire incubation workshop are installed with doors, implements sealing to limit odor dispersion and uses microbiological preparations to accelerate decomposition to shorten the incubation time, limits the cycle of odor generation; waste burial compartments are covered top or temporarily covered for the operating part to minimize the amount of leachate and bad smell.

Annually, the Provincial MONRE coordinates the Thong Nhat District People's Committee to measure and collect samples of ambient gas, exhaust gas after the incinerator gas treatment system, waste water after the treatment system and underground water; and measurement results showed that the monitoring parameters were met with the prescribed standards.

It is known that the Quang Trung Waste Treatment Project of Sonadezi Service Joint Stock Company has been approved by the MONRE to the Environmental Impact Assessment Report in accordance with regulations with a capacity of 1,200 tons per day.
