WP - According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, as of June 2020, there have been about 30.8 million people aged 15 years and over negatively affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, including those who lost their jobs, were laid off temporarily or had to take turns with others, had their work hours reduced, or had their income cut down.

Facing this difficult situation, the Vietnam - Germany cooperation program “Renewing vocational training in Vietnam” has cooperated with the General Department of Vocational Education, Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and vocational education institutions in 8 provinces and cities over the country including Bac Ninh, Ha Tinh, Ninh Thuan, Nha Trang, An Giang, Long An, Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai to open short-term vocational training courses. Intended subjects are employees who lost their jobs, are currently unemployed or need to change their jobs due to the influence of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The training courses focused on the technical professions such as mechanics, mechatronics, electricity - electronics, metal cutting, wastewater treatment, etc. less affected by the pandemic compared to those sectors such as tourism, hotel or clothing industry. These are also fields that have been supported by the Vietnam - Germany Cooperation program for the college system at 11 vocational education institutions across the country since 2017.
The courses last up to 2 months, students will be exempt from all tuition fees, in addition to meal, accommodation and travel support. After completion of training, they will be granted with an additional allowance and preliminary certificate. The courses are scheduled to take place in October and November 2020.
