Dong Nai invests in infrastructure for tourism development

In addition to efforts to develop and create typical tourism products for each locality, investment in tourism infrastructure, training and fostering of human resources and protection of tourism environment are also focused on synchronous implementation, creating abundance for local tourism.

Creating a stable investment environment

In order for tourism to develop, Dong Nai has always focused on transport infrastructure, which is an important factor to promote socio-economic development of the province in general and tourism in particular. Central transport infrastructure projects through the province such as Ben Luc - Long Thanh, Dau Giay - Lien Khuong, Dau Giay - Phan Thiet Expressways, Long Thanh International Airport, etc. are always coordinated by Dong Nai for progress acceleration. In particular, the province has invested about 300 billion VND for tourism infrastructure, especially the routes leading to tourist areas in Dinh Quan, Xuan Loc, and Tan Phu Districts. 

For the field of attracting investment projects for tourism development, over the past time, the Provincial People's Committee has issued 5 decisions on investment policies, with a total investment of 1,445 billion VND; up to now, the province has established 26 projects for tourism development. The investment objectives of the projects are ecotourism, resorts, hotels, and tourist urban areas.

In addition to efforts to develop internal tourism as well as attracting businesses to invest in tourism, Dong Nai has also actively promoted and connected tourism to jointly develop the Southeast.

Commenting on the tourism development direction for Dong Nai in the coming years, at the Conference on linking tourism development in the Southeast, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hoa Hiep also emphasized that Dong Nai is concentrating on implementation of a number of solutions to promote tourism development, creating conditions for Dong Nai tourism to form connection with the Southeastern provinces. In particular, speeding up the implementation of key transport projects in the province will be the top priority, because it will help the province to develop economy and create connections for tourism inside and outside the province. In addition, the province also creates a stable, open investment environment and ensures benefits for investors in Dong Nai, and at the same time constructs and exploits the province's potential tourism projects. Dong Nai will organize propaganda activities, remind and guide visitors to respect and apply good manners, and at the same time raise awareness of preserving traditional culture and social environment in tourism activities. Especially in the period of the movement of people doing tourism together, the province will continue to implement community education programs, increase information and propaganda to raise awareness of the population about cultural and civilized behaviors in tourism activities to build a safe, friendly and professional social environment for tourists.

Exploiting strengths of local tourism 

Dong Nai has long been famous for its strengths in tourism in forests, waterfalls and lakes. In recent years, characterized by a very large area of fruit trees in the region, Dong Nai has formed a garden ecotourism area, initiated from the people, to contribute to the consumption and introduction of local agricultural products hand in hand with the tourism industry to develop models of ecotourism of garden, forest, waterfall, lake experience and so on; some of the examples include garden houses (Long Khanh City, Long Thanh, etc.); forest and lake eco-tourism (Tan Phu, Vinh Cuu, and Dinh Quan Districts); River tourism (Nhon Trach and Vinh Cuu Districts) along with famous tourist destinations such as Buu Long tourist site, Da Han Waterfall Resort, Giang Dien, Suoi Mo, etc. which are all thriving.

In which, the typical example is the garden ecotourism in Long Khanh City in recent years, becoming a spearhead economic sector with sustainable development. According to the People's Committee of Long Khanh City, up to now, most of the communes and wards in the city have households engaged in the registration of the garden ecotourism. The total area of fruit orchards for tourism is more than 200 hectares, planted with typical local crops such as rambutan, mangosteen, durian, etc. The other example is Tan Phu District, in the last 5 years (except the time affected by the Covid-2019 pandemic), the number of visitors and revenue from tourism of Tan Phu has always increased significantly, exceeding the plan by 20-50% each year. Tourism models such as ecotourism and homestay, especially some tourist destinations like Cat Tien National Park, Suoi Mo Tourist Area, Ethnic Minority Village, Long House in Ta Lai Commune attract countless tourists, both domestic and abroad; there are times when it becomes overwhelmed by visitors.
