Towards an creative and innovative economy

Investment in production technology innovation is a compulsory requirement for the economy in the period of industrial revolution 4.0.

After 35 years of renovation, despite achieving many achievements, but viewed objectively, Dong Nai's economy has not developed as expected. The ratio of high technology knowledge content is still quite low. The main industries of the province, such as textiles, footwear, and electronics, still use a lot of labors, and the ratio of value added remains low. The private and collective economy remains weak and still relies on FDI economy.

At the end of 2019, when Dong Nai organized an Innovation Workshop to improve competitiveness in the Southern Key Economic Region in the context of industrial integration and revolution 4.0, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council, Mr. Nguyen Phu Cuong province said, Dong Nai has been active and proactive to find new directions in development. However, over the past years, the economic situation has still evolved with difficulties, opportunities and challenges interwoven. Difficulties and challenges can only be solved when there is the joint strength of the whole economy, from the policies of the Party and the State, the administration of the government to the dynamism and creativity of the economic sectors. In which, the requirement for innovation is a decisive content.

With the same point of view, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Director of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang said that today's world has entered the industrial revolution 4.0, bringing changes in life and production and business activities. The main growth driver is based on technology and innovation. Our country's growth model over the past time is dependent too much on breadth, initially changing in depth. Although creating many achievements and creating jobs for people, there is not much room for development of the old economic model. The product's competitiveness in the world market is not high. Even if we do not implement carefully, this economic model shall fall into "integration trap" of Vietnam. Therefore, it is necessary to pay high attention in the transformation of the economic model.

As the largest economic region in the country,. Ho Chi Minh City and localities in the Southeast have conditions to support and learn from each other in socio-economic development. In the future, when the transport infrastructure system and connecting infrastructure become more and more synchronous, the development opportunity will also expand. Especially, in the context that Vietnam is economic integrating with the world, experiences, good models in innovation and in line with world trends are very important.

For Dong Nai, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Nguyen Phu Cuong emphasized: “The trend of innovation and application of achievements of the industrial revolution 4.0 is thriving in the world. In addition to the efforts of the local government, Dong Nai wants to acquire the experiences of experts, scientists, provinces and cities to jointly improve competitiveness, create new momentum for the province as well as contribute to the general development of the region”.
