The leader of the Provincial Food Safety and Hygiene Branch said that in the first 10 months of 2020, the whole province had only 2 cases of food poisoning with 261 infected people, with no deaths. The number of poisoning cases decreased by 5 cases compared to the same period in 2019.

The functional forces
are inspecting food safety and hygiene at a food business establishment in the province.
Beside advantages, the prevention and control of food poisoning in the province has faced plenty of difficulties. That is, the control of food input ingredients at some collective kitchens and meal providers is not well performed; and knowledge about food hygiene and safety practices of some establishment owners and those who directly contact with food during processing and preservation processes is still limited. In addition, establishments have not maintained food samples, so it is unable to test to verify causes of food poisoning, etc.
At the recent inspection and supervision of the prevention and control of food poisoning in Dong Nai province in 2020, Sc.D, Dr. Cao Van Trung, Deputy Head of Poisoning Monitoring and Communication Department, Food Safety Bureau (Ministry of Health) highly appreciated the poisoning prevention and control work in Dong Nai Province over the past years. In order to well execute prevention and control of food poisoning and reduce poisoning cases, in the coming time, Dong Nai needs to promote propaganda, at the same time, closely coordinate with departments, unions and local authorities. In particular, the head must be held responsible for this issue. The delegation noted the difficulties in terms of professional skills of the province and is expected to issue guidance in the coming time. At the end of the year, it is required that Dong Nai province strengthen inspection and management to ensure food safety and hygiene in the province.
