Mr. Peter Wu, President of Taiwan Trade Association in Dong Nai

Reporter: There are Taiwanese enterprises that have invested in Dong Nai for nearly 30 years and how do they evaluate the investment environment in the province?

 - Mr. Peter Wu: Ever since 1994 and 1995 of the last century, Taiwan enterprises started to come to the province to invest in industrial production. After a few years, most of the pioneering Taiwanese companies investing in Dong Nai were successful, attracting many other enterprises to the province to set up factories for export production and consumption in the domestic market. The process of making documents and procedures for investment in the province is quite favorable, so every year the number of Taiwanese enterprises investing in new and expanding production in Dong Nai has continuously increased. Until now, Taiwan ranked second among countries and territories investing in the province (after Korea - Reporter). Dong Nai government has a policy of "Accompanying with businesses". The difficulties and problems of being promptly resolved also help businesses feel secure to choose the place for their headquarters.

*Covid-19 epidemic occurred globally and caused great damage to domestic enterprises, FDI enterprises, how was the recovery of Taiwanese enterprises in Dong Nai?

 - The Covid-19 pandemic, affecting the global economy, caused many businesses to fall into crisis, with great difficulties due to lack of output for products. Especially businesses with goods exported to two major markets, the United States and China, have strongly declined, because many partners have stopped or canceled orders, leading to relatively large inventories. Therefore, the recovery of many Taiwanese enterprises in Dong Nai is quite slow. Currently, in order to control the Covid-19 epidemic, Vietnam and many countries around the world have canceled flights, so the exchange of goods is limited, making it difficult to expand the market to sell goods abroad. towel over. However, Taiwanese enterprises in Dong Nai are very supportive of Vietnam on methods of prevention and fighting, so they accept a deep decline in revenue for a while to control the epidemic well. If the epidemic is suppressed and not spread widely, it is likely that by the end of 2020 or early 2021, Taiwan's production will have a clearer recovery.

*In the coming time, will Dong Nai still be the land chosen by many Taiwanese businesses?

-From previous years, Taiwan had policies to encourage businesses to invest abroad. Through research, many Taiwanese businesses have chosen to invest in Dong Nai because there are many advantages in transport infrastructure being built that will connect the region, the Central Highlands and the West. Enterprises invest in fast cargo transportation, reduce many costs, so in the coming time, there will continue to be many Taiwanese companies investing in areas such as industry, agriculture, trade and services…

*What should be prepared to welcome a Taiwanese enterprise to Dong Nai province?

-To my opinion, coming here not only Taiwan enterprises but also businesses of many other countries and territories with the desire to invest in Dong Nai. From my perspective, the province should prepare a large industrial land fund for enterprises to hire as factories and production offices. In addition, the province pays attention to training highly skilled human resources to meet the needs of businesses entering Dong Nai. Currently, Taiwanese enterprises are applying a variety of modern machines, so it is necessary to have qualified labor. Recently, the Taiwan Trade Association in Dong Nai has linked with many universities to advise and order human resource training accordingly.

At this point, when the Covid-19 epidemic subsides, trade between countries and territories is open, Dong Nai will be the place where many FDI enterprises choose to relocate their factories and incoming orders. Therefore, the province should combine with associations to grasp the needs of businesses to prepare in advance about human resources. Thus, Dong Nai can avoid the current situation that the labor level has not met the growth of investors.

 Thank and best regards!
