This morning, the Prime Minister issued decision allocating rice from the national reserve to support the people facing difficulties due to the epidemic according to the proposal of the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.

Specifically, assigning the Ministry of Finance to issue for free 130,175.67 tons of rice from the national reserve to 24 provinces and cities in order to support the people facing difficulties due to the Covid-19 epidemic (those people who have been postponed, stopped working, lost their jobs, lost their income, cannot guarantee their lives, are at risk of starvation, etc.). The list of 24 provinces and cities includes: Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Dong Thap, Tay Ninh, Ca Mau, Vinh Long, Kien Giang, Tra Vinh, Khanh Hoa, Binh Duong, An Giang, Ben Tre, Binh Dinh, Dong Nai , Long An, Nghe An, Tien Giang, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Phu Yen, Da Nang City, Can Tho City, Binh Thuan, Ninh Thuan, Ho Chi Minh City. Among these, Ho Chi Minh City is the top beneficiary with the total amount of 71,104,950 tons of rice.
The Head of Government requested the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and the Ministry of Finance to detailly handle according to regulations, to be responsible for the information and data reported. The People's Committees of the provinces and cities are responsible for the accuracy of the reported data and provide timely support, to the right subjects and norms according to regulations, be suitable with the local epidemic prevention and control work. In case of still difficulties after implementation, the People's Committees of provinces and cities shall report to the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and the Ministry of Finance for submission to the Prime Minister for consideration and further support.
It is known that the above rice will be distributed to more than 8.6 million people facing difficulties due to the Covid-19 epidemic in 24 provinces and cities (supporting level of 15 kg of rice per person). This phase, Dong Nai Province already received 3,128.505 tons of rice.
