Sunday - 26/04/2026 11:39
With 478 out of 487 deputies present voting in favor, the National Assembly has officially passed a Resolution on the establishment of Dong Nai City. The Resolution will take effect from April 30, 2026, marking a historic turning point in the development of a city of nearly 4.5 million people.

This milestone goes beyond an administrative change or a shift in development and governance models. It is the culmination of a long historical journey—from a frontier land in the Southern expansion nearly 330 years ago to a modern, dynamic, and culturally rich urban center. Historically, Dong Nai is considered one of the cradles of Southern region. From the earliest waves of settlers, the land quickly became a convergence point for diverse cultural and socio-economic currents. Over time, Dong Nai has continuously transformed into one of the country’s key industrial hubs. Large-scale industrial zones, increasingly developed infrastructure, and a strategic position within the Southern key economic region have made Dong Nai one of major locomotives for growth. In the coming period, Dong Nai City is expected to take on the mission of becoming a new growth pole driving the national economy.

The birth of Dong Nai City during these historic days of April is therefore not a sudden move, but the inevitable result of long-term accumulation of internal strengths. It stands as well-deserved recognition of the sustained efforts and solidarity of the Party Committee, authorities, and people of Dong Nai over many years. The journey of the young city of Dong Nai reflects the resilience of a locality rich in tradition and aspiration.

While possessing strong internal capacity, determination, and aspiration, the road ahead for Dong Nai City will not be without challenges. Significant efforts will be required to translate the Resolution newly adopted by the National Assembly into reality. This includes developing practical plans and solutions to implement three strategic breakthroughs related to human resources, synchronized and modern infrastructure, and science and technology. It also entails formulating and executing strategies for green and smart urban development, while preserving and promoting local cultural values.

It can be said that the Resolution on establishing Dong Nai City, which received strong consensus from the 16th National Assembly at its first session, represents not only a major policy step forward but also a call to action, mobilizing the entire political system and the people of Dong Nai to jointly build a city worthy of its status. As affirmed by Vu Hong Van, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Dong Nai Delegation of National Assembly Deputies, during group discussions on the Draft Project on the establishment of Dong Nai City under the program of the first session of the 16th National Assembly, Dong Nai affirmed its aspiration to become a city and to assume responsibility as a leading growth pole, contributing to the country’s goal of achieving upper-middle-income status by 2030 and becoming a developed nation by 2045.

April 30 will soon become a milestone of profound political and socio-economic significance, reflecting the determination to reorganize national space in a modern, efficient, and sustainable direction. It is also a clear affirmation that Dong Nai is ready to enter a new phase of development—confident, capable, and aspiring to reach new heights.
