As an enterprise in the steel industry, but by this time, the VICASA - VNSTEEL Joint Stock Company has been "encroaching" into the field of oxygen supply for the medical facilities. Mr. Vuong Thanh Duong, Deputy General Director of the company said that facing the complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic in the Southern provinces, especially Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong Province and Dong Nai Province, the Vietnam Steel Corporation had a document sending to the affiliated steel production units, including VICASA - VNSTEEL Joint Stock Company in order to support the supply of medical oxygen for the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic. The company has made a document to the Department of Health of Dong Nai Province, the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City on participating in the supply of oxygen for serving the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic.

“We made a document to send it out, but we just hoped that the localities could grasp the information and did not need our supports. If the hospital did need our supports, it meaned more and more seriously patients" - the Company Leader shared.

However, after that, many units contacted to borrow the equipments and extract the medical oxygen vapors. In which, the Thu Duc City Hospital borrowed 100 oxygen cylinders; the Bien Hoa City Medical Center borrowed 25 oxygen cylinders; the Field Hospital No. 10 in Dong Nai Province borrowed 15 oxygen cylinders; the Cam My District Medical Center borrowed 10 oxygen cylinders, etc.

Faced with the question of why the steel enterprises can ensure a large supply of medical oxygen cylinders and vapors for the medical treatments, the leaders of the VICASA - VNSTEEL Joint Stock Company said that the most steel factories all have the oxygen production lines in order to serve their steel production. Since the social distancing until now, the company has reduced about 50% of the operating capacity of the steel production lines, so the excess oxygen is up to 400 - 500m³ per day. In the past, the excess oxygen could be traded or used for other purposes, but at present, it is prioritized for extraction to the medical facilities.

Up to the present time, the VICASA - VNSTEEL Joint Stock Company has lent 175 oxygen cylinders to the medical facilities and hospitals in Dong Nai Province and Ho Chi Minh City for serving the treatment of diseases and has the extracting capacity of 100 oxygen cylinders per day (kind of 40-litered cylinder).

The company said that there is still the ability to supply the medical oxygen vapors. Therefore, the public and private medical units that need refueling can contact the company for serving. The company is always ready to provide completely free of charge. Officers and staffs of the oxygen station work 24 per 24 hours in order to serve the hospitals and medical facilities at any time.

Mr. Pham Cong Thao, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Steel Corporation - under the model of a Joint Stock Company (VSNSTEEL) said that by this time, the steel industry enterprises have had to reduce their production and implement "3 things on the spot" option. However, the units in the industry have still strived to provide the oxygen, equipments and accompany with the health sectors and local governments in the fight against the epidemic. According to Mr. Thao, the policy of lending equipments and giving the oxygen is the desire and unity of all officers and staffs in the Corporation. This work will be maintained by the units until the epidemic is controlled.
