Diversified activities in Humanitarian Month

2020 Humanitarian Month is extended for 2 months of May and June, so in addition to activities to take care of people struggling with the epidemic of COVID-19, the provincial Red Cross also pays special attention to supporting poor pupils and children. The provincial Red Cross has awarded 20 scholarships (each worth VND 1 million) to 20 poor students who overcome difficulties and study well in Bien Hoa City. Besides, the Red Cross levels also gave many gifts such as confectionery, milk, school stationery supplies to disadvantaged students in the province.

In particular, many activities in response to the 2020 Humanitarian Month were implemented by many Red Cross levels in the province. In particular, there is the program of Rice ATM and Zero-VND Market, Humanitarian Market. Although launched in April 2020, the rice ATM program is still being maintained on Saturdays and Sundays weekly in many localities in the province in the form of both fixed and mobile. Mr. Nguyen Van Dung (a builder, residing in Giang Dien commune, Trang Bom district) said that the rice ATM program organized right in the commune has helped his family overcome difficulties in the last May.

 

Immediately after the Humanitarian Market Fair was first implemented by the Provincial Red Cross in the launching ceremony of 2020 Humanitarian Month, this activity was organized to study by the Red Cross Association at all levels. Accordingly, each time of gift giving, the organizers arranged a stall with necessities and vegetables for people to choose. People can also receive a gift prepared by the organizer.

 

Along with the above forms of humanitarian assistance, the Red Cross at various levels has also carried out many healthcare activities for people on the theme of the 2020 Humanitarian Month: Joining hands for the Public Health. Thereby, there have been 6 rounds of medical examination and treatment, free medicine delivery and gifts given to people who are policy families, poor households, near-poor households, social protection beneficiaries, difficult ethnic minorities.

 

Just being examined by doctors, Ms. Nguyen Thi A (difficult family, living in Tri An commune, Vinh Cuu district) said that she was very happy to receive the attention of the authorities. Along with free medical examinations and medicine, she also received gifts of various kinds of food, making an elderly, single woman like her very happy.

 

To address the scarcity of blood resources used to save lives as well as to increase the availability of blood reserves, during the 2020 Humanitarian Month, all levels of the Red Cross will coordinate to organize 37 times to receive voluntary blood donations. The goal is to collect over 7,000 units of blood for life saving use. In May alone, the organizers received nearly 3.2 thousand units of blood. At the time of receiving blood at the beginning of June, people from all walks of life responded enthusiastically and enthusiastically, promising the amount of blood collected to exceed the set target.​
