Through practical inspection and supervision, members of the supervision mission highly appreciated Dong Nai's achievements in HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis prevention and control in recent years. Although facing a number of difficulties in facilities and personnel, most of the staff in charge of implementing projects have made efforts and have many creative ways to bring high efficiency.

The mission also noted that the province needs to strengthen measures to detect HIV infections in the community; In addition, the disbursement of aid from organizations and the elaboration of HIV/AIDS & Tuberculosis prevention and control plans in the period 2021-2023 must be suitable to the local practical situation.

It is known that from 2015 to 2019, the total number of people who were received, treated for pulmonary tuberculosis and extrapulmonary tuberculosis ranged from 3.5 thousand people. Particularly in the first 6 months of 2020, more than 1.7 thousand people were treated. The prevalence of tuberculosis examination and detection in the province's population remains at 0.7%, while the rate of detection of tuberculosis sources tends to decrease slightly. Mortality and failure rates to treat tuberculosis also tend to decrease year by year. The number of people with tuberculosis who agree to have an HIV test also increases year by year, thereby promptly detecting and treating patients with the disease.

The HIV/AIDS prevention and control program in the province has achieved positive results. There are about 6,000 people living with HIV in the whole province, of which 5.2 thousand are aware of HIV status, more than 4.7 thousand people are being treated with ARV drugs and more than 3.8 thousand people have a viral load under 1,000 copies/ml of blood. Relevant agencies and units of Dong Nai have met and exceeded HIV/AIDS prevention and control targets set by the Global Fund for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control.

Due to the effects of the Covid-19 epidemic in the first months of 2020, the organization of training, counseling and testing in the community has not been implemented; medical examination and treatment through health insurance cards for HIV-infected people in many health facilities was interrupted; some drugs were slowly distributed, which also significantly affected the supply of ARVs for months; implementation of a new HIV confirmatory laboratory in the province also faced a number of obstacles.
