In Dong Nai, the e-commerce index is currently ranked 7th in the country. According to the Department of Industry and Trade, Dong Nai has many specific solutions to promote e-commerce development in the area in the future.
Opportunities for small and medium enterprises
In 2016, Mr. Dinh Phuoc Tam, owner of wooden furniture brand Ho Nai Tam Thao (Tan Hoa Ward, Bien Hoa City) stepped into production of wood furniture. Being a new unit, thanks to his experience when working on website design for organizations and businesses before, Mr. Tam has applied to promote his products.
Businesses are learning sales on the Postmart e-commerce website
Through the Facebook and the website named Ho Nai Furniture, just over a year after selling online, the woodwork factory gave Tam monthly revenue of more than 1 billion. “E-commerce, more specifically online sales is the fastest channel for products of a new business, small and medium-sized enterprises to reach customers. That is even more true and necessary for start-up businesses because the level of brand recognition is very low, difficult to compete in traditional sales as big companies with the system of shops, sales staff and huge costs”, said Mr.Tam.
Similarly, for Nhat Ha Production and Trading Service Co., Ltd. (Bien Hoa City), the sale of units is mostly done through social networks. Ms. Nguyen Trong Nhat Ha, Director of the company said that at the beginning, the enterprise spent tens of millions to design and operate the sales website to have the most convenient interface for searchers. In addition, Ms. Nhat Ha said she regularly consulted the sales page of large companies to adjust the company's website, so that many kinds of food and specialty products in the region where businesses are distributing are better known.
In fact, internet applications, social networks for sales have facilitated both businesses and consumers. However, the application of e-commerce business in Vietnam in general and Dong Nai in particular is still difficult. According to the Department of Industry and Trade, doing business on an e-commerce environment is potentially risky, so most businesses only trade and provide online services without online payment. Many cooperatives, farms and production facilities have not built a sales website; The number of enterprises participating in e-commerce port is still limited, most businesses have websites that mainly promote products but do not sell goods online...
Encouragement of e-commerce development
According to Dong Nai e-commerce development plan for the period of 2016-2020, annually, the Department of Industry and Trade will support the construction of a sales website for 10 enterprises and cooperatives. At the same time, such enterprises and cooperatives will be provided with skills and tools to effectively manage the contents, promote and market for the website to enhance the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises. Dong Nai E-Commerce portal has also been built to gather production enterprises, suppliers of goods and agricultural products... in the province with effective communication channels to meet the demand of finding partners and customers. In addition, it is necessary to strengthen training on e-commerce for businesses...
Efforts of management agencies and businesses also initially showed effectiveness. According to the survey of 2018 of E-commerce Association of Vietnam in thousands of enterprises across the country, the e-commerce index of Dong Nai province ranked 7th in the whole country.
The survey is based on four major criteria: human resources and information technology infrastructure, business-to-consumer business transactions (B2C), corporate and corporate e-commerce transactions (B2B) and supply providing online public services of state agencies to businesses (G2B). In the criteria of human resources and information technology infrastructure, Dong Nai ranked 6th, in which the number of domain names ".vn" and Dong Nai ranked 5 after Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang and Binh Duong with more than 5,750 websites for ".vn" domain names.
Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, Mr. Nguyen Tri Phuong said, in addition to attracting foreign investment, Dong Nai pays great attention to developing domestic enterprises, especially small and medium enterprises in association with consumption of local goods, agricultural products and specialties. Dong Nai has encouraged these enterprises to participate and develop e-commerce channels. According to leaders of the Department of Industry and Trade, participating in E-commerce exchanges will help businesses, establishments and individuals have the opportunity to expand their sales network because consumers buy goods online annually by nearly 40%.
In early March, the Department of Industry and Trade in coordination with the Provincial Post Office organized a conference to bring Dong Nai specialties to electronic Postmart.vn trading website for more than 50 enterprises and cooperatives in the area. The goal of Postmart.vn is to coordinate with provinces, cities to introduce, promote and sell specialties and handicrafts to consumers. After that, it will gradually expand to form a national trade market with national scale. With a system of 13,000 transaction points throughout the country, up to remote areas, products participating on the website will be delivered quickly.
According to Mr. Phuong, in addition to implementing assigned tasks in Dong Nai e-commerce development plan for the period of 2016 - 2020, the Department of Industry and Trade will also have other support programs for individuals and businesses of the province to have opportunities to bring regional goods and specialties to E-commerce websites to promote their products, expand markets and gradually improve e-commerce ranking index of the province.
