Dong Nai is one of the localities with a large forest area and top-tier biodiversity value in Vietnam. Leveraging this advantage, the city is stepping up nature conservation measures, prioritizing the protection of elephant populations and endangered, precious and rare wildlife species.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, efforts to conserve nature and biodiversity have continued to be implemented in a coordinated and comprehensive manner in recent years. Priority has been given to the conservation of Asian elephants, considered an iconic species of Dong Nai’s forest ecosystem, alongside enhanced management, monitoring, and protection of endangered, precious and rare wildlife species.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment is formulating and advising on the issuance of a city plan to implement the National Program on the Conservation of Endangered, Precious and Rare Wildlife Species Prioritized for Protection through 2030, with a vision to 2050.

The effective formulation, issuance, and implementation of the plan will contribute to the efficient protection of forest resources, maintain ecological balance, preserve valuable genetic resources, and enhance Dong Nai’s position in nature conservation and environmental protection toward sustainable development.
