Throughout its 101-year history, the Vietnamese revolutionary press has consistently maintained a pioneering role on the ideological and cultural front, bridging the Party, the government, and the people. Given Dong Nai City's new development requirements, the press corps is called on to continuously innovate and strengthen its political mettle, professional expertise, and social responsibility.

On the occasion of the 101st anniversary of Vietnam’s Revolutionary Press Day, could you share some notable achievements of the Dong Nai press in accompanying the city's development?

The most notable aspect is that the Dong Nai press has consistently remained close to local realities, promptly conveying the Party's guidelines and orientations, the State's policies and laws, as well as the city's development tasks to the public. After decades of development, Dong Nai has transformed from a predominantly agricultural locality into an important industrial center of the country. Throughout this process, the press has consistently supported Dong Nai's development.

For example, the recent merger of both former Dong Nai and Binh Phuoc provinces to open up greater development opportunities was promptly and comprehensively communicated by Dong Nai Newspaper and Radio, Television across all four journalistic formats and digital platforms, helping citizens and businesses clearly understand and build consensus around the major decisions of the Party and the State.

The Dong Nai press has promptly identified, promoted, and replicated exemplary models and outstanding individuals across the city, while also reflecting shortcomings and limitations in task implementation so that departments, sectors, and localities can take corrective measures.

“I believe the Dong Nai press corps will continue to innovate, become more professional, and serve as a pioneering force on the ideological and cultural front, serving as an increasingly effective bridge between the Party, the government, and the people.”

Throughout every stage of Dong Nai's development, the press has consistently demonstrated its role as a bridge between the Party, the government, and the people, contributing to building social consensus and helping address practical issues.

In recent years, despite rapid changes in the media landscape, the Dong Nai journalism community has maintained its political mettle, professional ethics, and spirit of innovation. The press has not only fulfilled its role of providing information but has also helped strengthen public trust, inspire aspirations for development, and contribute to the goal of building an increasingly civilized and modern Dong Nai City. This remains the core value enabling the Dong Nai press to continue affirming its pioneering role on the ideological and cultural front during the city's new phase of development.

Dong Nai City is entering a new phase of development with many major tasks. How do you expect the journalism community to promote its role in creating consensus among citizens and businesses and spreading development aspirations?

Dong Nai City is entering a new phase of development with the goal of achieving double-digit growth this year and in the coming years and becoming a major growth pole of the country. These goals aim to create a livable city where people benefit most from development achievements. To realize this objective, the Dong Nai City Party Committee’s Executive Board recently issued Resolution No. 05-NQ/TU, launching the special 500-day-and-night emulation campaign themed “Unity – Discipline – Efficiency – Breakthrough, building a civilized and modern Dong Nai.” The campaign aims to bring about significant changes in management thinking and task implementation, strengthen responsibility, discipline, and administrative order, and mobilize the strength of the entire political system, the business community, and the people to achieve the city's development goals. Therefore, I hope the press will further expand communication efforts to foster consensus among citizens and businesses and encourage them to join in building the city.

I expect the journalism community to continue to uphold its political mettle, sharpness, and dedication in fulfilling political tasks. To create social consensus, the press must provide complete, objective, analytical, and interactive information. With the long-standing development of Dong Nai Newspaper and Radio, Television, I am confident that the press will continue to serve as the Party's trusted voice on the ideological front.

In the context of social media and artificial intelligence (AI) reshaping the way the public accesses information, how should the local press transform to avoid being left behind?

I believe digital transformation presents both opportunities and challenges, requiring the local press to adapt to meet the needs of readers, viewers, and listeners. Technological advances have significantly changed public’s news consumption habits, particularly among young people. If the local press continues to operate in traditional ways, it will face difficulties in retaining audiences. However, by effectively utilizing digital platforms and developing multimedia content, the local press can build its own strengths because it remains close to the people, grounded in reality, familiar with the locality, and trusted by the public.

The local press must apply technology and digital transformation to deliver information to audiences that is faster, more accurate, more in-depth, and more valuable.

Dong Nai press maintains pioneering role

Currently, social media is developing rapidly. What should the mainstream press do to maintain its advantages in orientation, credibility, and persuasiveness among the public?

It is difficult for the mainstream press to compete with social media in terms of speed. However, the mainstream press enjoys the advantage of public trust because of its high level of accuracy. When issues or events occur, what the public needs is not simply to know what has happened; they also want to understand the nature of the issue. The mainstream press remains the most reliable source of information in this regard. Therefore, the press must continue upholding professional standards, strengthen its analytical and verification capabilities, and innovate its presentation methods so that official information can reach the public more quickly and attractively. Today, guiding public opinion is no longer about speaking on behalf of the public but about engaging in dialogue, providing explanations, and building consensus based on accurate information.

How do you assess the role of the press in promoting the Party's major guidelines, particularly in bringing resolutions into practice?

The press plays a crucial role in communicating the Party's guidelines and orientations and the State's policies and laws so that citizens and businesses can understand them correctly and clearly. This understanding enables citizens and businesses to unite in successfully implementing the Party's guidelines. In my view, effective communication of resolutions means helping people understand how resolutions affect their daily lives, enabling businesses to identify development opportunities, and ensuring that officials clearly recognize their responsibilities. When the press fulfills this role, resolutions truly become part of daily life.

On the occasion of the 101st anniversary of Vietnam’s Revolutionary Press Day, what message would you like to send to the staff, reporters, editors, and employees of Dong Nai Newspaper and Radio, Television?

I hope the city's journalism community will continue to uphold its passion for the profession, political mettle, and vigilance in handling information. Journalism today faces greater pressure but also many opportunities to affirm its professional value. Every journalistic piece not only reflects reality but also helps build trust, spread positive values, and accompany the locality's development.
