Strengthening air quality control

Although there has been no serious air pollution as in many large cities of the country over the past time, however, Dong Nai is still strengthening measures to enhance air pollution control, thoroughly handling ‘hot-spots’ on dust and exhaust pollution.

No widespread air pollution occurs

Local dust pollution occurs in some roads

According to the Department of Environmental Protection, Department of Natural Resources and Environment (DONRE), the monitoring results in 2019 showed that the air quality in the province was generally good, which shows that Dong Nai has not faced a large-scale air pollution yet, but local air pollution has occurred, especially dust pollution in some areas, quite serious in the area around the quarry in the province.

In addition, local dust pollution also occurs at some intersections with high vehicle concentration at peak hours and in areas where industrial clusters are concentrated. Specifically, the results of the monitoring of air quality in September 1919 showed that, at some times of monitoring the area around industrial clusters such as Slope 47, Phuoc Tan (Bien Hoa City); Ho Nai 3 (Trang Bom district) and Tan An (Vinh Cuu district) occurred local dust pollution.

Dealing with hot spots, enhancing air pollution control

In order to effectively control the air environment quality, the Provincial People's Committee has issued a written request to the functional agencies to strengthen the control of air pollution and thoroughly handle hot spots of dust and exhaust pollution.

Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee assigns DONRE to focus on improving the capacity of gas emission management and control in production facilities, focusing on emission control; increasing the frequency of monitoring the air environment in the periodic monitoring program and the system of automatic, continuous monitoring stations, fixed at intersections and areas with hazardous air quality

At the same time, it is necessary to inspect the compliance with environmental protection regulations during the operation of production and business establishments; inspect and require subjects to install automatic monitoring equipment to perform the installation. In particular, the Provincial People's Committee also requires public air quality monitoring results to be publicized. Deputy Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Vo Van Chanh also requested the Department of Transport to strengthen the control of vehicles, take measures to regulate and reduce the pressure load at the main intersections in the province in order to reduce vehicle density, limit the increase of air pollution during peak hours.

According to the Department of Environmental Protection, the province has a concentrated industrial development with many industrial clusters, so the environmental protection issue, including the air environment, has always been focused by Dong Nai.

According to the Sub-Department of Environmental Protection, in 2019, air monitoring was conducted at 126 monitoring locations including: Ground area, surrounding area of industrial zones, area around industrial clusters, residential areas, etc., with the frequency of observation every 2 months. In the near future, the number of monitoring locations will be increased to 149.
