Opening of Vietnam International Technology and Equipment market 2012

On the evening of September 20^th, icVe Vice Chairperson of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Deputy prime minister Nguyen Thien Nhan, Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology Nguyen Quan as well as many other leaders of agencies and departments attended the opening ceremony of the Vietnam International Technology and Equipment market 2012 (Techmart 2012) at the international exhibition center ICE (Ha Noi).

At Techmart 2012, there are 479 domestic and foreign units with 520 stores displaying and selling nearly 3.000 new technologies and equipment. This is one of many important events responding to “ASEAN-EU Year of science and technology 2012”.

On behalf of the prime minister, Deputy prime minister Nguyen Thien Nhan congratulated and praised the ministry of science and technology, the Committee on Science and Technology of South East Asian nations, Ha noi people’s committee, Ho Chi Minh city people’s committee and other agencies, departments, provinces, research institutes, universities, domestic businesses and partners from ASEAN+3 (Japan, Korean, China),  the European Communities, Russian, Israel for making their best to join this significant event.

Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that, Vietnam is modernizing its system and restructuring the economy for better productivity, effectiveness, competitiveness, which requires the aid of technology and science as well as the deprived applications, through which will truly make technology and science the engine for economic and social development. The improvement of technology and science is a distinctive policy, objective of the central party and Vietnam government so as to publicize technology and transfer technical knowhow, contributing to the development of technologies of enterprises and the competitiveness of the economy, at the same time strengthening the relation between research and experiment with manufacture, business.

Until now, the technology and science market in Vietnam has fundamentally developed and obtained praiseworthy accomplishments. The legal context through which facilitating the technology and science market is improving. The right for intellectual property, the right for trading and purchasing technology is acknowledged and protected by the government; methods are being devised to push demand and supply of technology, bridge the gap between technology supply and demand, commercialize the application of science and technology.

Techmart 2012 was open at the same time with the 6^th Central conference of Communist Party term XI which is preparing to pass the Resolution on “Development of science and technology to serve industrialization and modernization in the context of market economy oriented toward socialism and international integration”.

Techmart 2012 will end on September 23^rd, 2012

Technology and equipment market, technology trading fairs are held quite frequently within national, regional and local scopes. The number of transactions and sales of technology for the period of 2006 - 2010 was more than tripled, the value of transactions increased by 2.5 times over the period 2001 - 2005. The total value of transactions, sales of technology for the last 10 years reached around 20,000 billion Dong (nearly 1 billion USD).
