​Online shopping is not only a trend but increasingly a habit of consumers. This brings convenience to both buyers and sellers, so many businesses, units and individuals have chosen to do business online to meet trends, improve sales efficiency and increase shopping experience. However, besides those practical benefits, online shopping has also revealed many inadequacies and risks, especially buying fake goods, imitation goods, poor quality goods...

People choose to buy products on e-commerce platforms.

As one of the "believers" of online shopping, Ms. Ngan Tra (living at Tan Bien Ward, Bien Hoa City) said that it was not only her but also the purchase of goods through e-commerce platforms, watching selling livestream on social networks has become a habit of many women because of both convenience and fast. However, in addition to the richness, variety of models, and easy "closing orders", buying online is sometimes also easy to make buyers frustrated because of wrong delivery, lack of goods, goods not as described and advertised ....

Mr. Do Thanh (living in Trung Dung Ward, Bien Hoa City) said that he used to buy consumer goods, electronics, clothes, etc. online in the past because he found the prices was cheaper than at stores, at the same time there were regular promotions and discounts. However, some e-commerce platforms did not allow co-checking then (not allowed to check goods upon receipt, had to make videos when opening goods for assistance in solving) which caused difficulties for elderly customers to accept because most people consumers had the habit of "giving money for porridge" so that as soon as they opened the goods they could have specific complaints and incidents such as: missing goods, wrong delivery, taking advantage of information to exchange goods for profit...

Some common tricks of violators are setting up multiple accounts on social networks (Facebook, Zalo, TikTok) for selling goods in the form of livestream (directly) or posting for sale. These selling points do not often introduce the addresses of the business, the customers close the orders directly or through the inbox (private messaging)…

According to the survey results of the provincial Steering Committee for the movement of Vietnamese people to give priority to using Vietnamese goods (Steering Committee 264) conducted in 2022, with a total of more than 3.9 thousand surveyed opinions, there were nearly 26 % of comments were that they had bought fake goods, poor quality goods through e-commerce websites. In addition, consumers also said that they bought fake and poor quality goods through buying from Facebook, Zalo, marketing, etc.

At the summarizing conference of the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and fake goods in 2022, orientation and tasks in 2023, Mr. Vo Thai, Deputy Director of Dong Nai Department of Market Management - the standing agency of the Steering Committee against smuggling, commercial fraud and fake goods (Steering Committee 389/DP) of the province shared that e-commerce activities were growing after days, the objects taking advantage of the online buying and selling needs of consumers increasing to buy and sell banned goods, smuggled goods, goods of unknown origin, goods infringing intellectual property causing difficulties for the verification, tracing and handling of functional forces.

In order to improve the efficiency of management, collection, receiving and verification of information on cases with signs of violations of the law on goods trading in e-commerce, Dong Nai Department of Market Management has just issued a decision on establishment of a working group on e-commerce goods infringing intellectual property. Accordingly, this working group will advise on the market management in e-commerce across the province, including: grasping the situation, advising the leaders of the Dong Nai Department of Market Management in the inspection and control of the market; urging the compliance with legal provisions on e-commerce by traders, organizations and individuals and business models in cyberspace under the authority of the market management force...

Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee 389/DP requested that members of the Provincial Steering Committee 389/DP and localities in the province should strengthen coordination in inspection work, detected and handled violations of fake goods, smuggling and commercial fraud in 2023. In which, promoting the interdisciplinary inspection work, thoroughly handled cases of violations of smuggled goods, fake goods, imitation goods ... from the places of production and distribution. At the same time, strengthen propaganda activities, training courses on recognizing and handling fake goods, imitation goods...
