Sinopharm's Vero Cell vaccine is effective, people should be ready to be injected

The experiment phase No. 3 in many countries showed that 2 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine injected 21 days apart were 79% effective against asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 cases, calculated 14 days or more after the second dose. The WHO concluded that the benefits of the Sinopharm vaccine outweigh the known or possible risks. The WHO recommends using the Sinopharm vaccine based on priority roadmap of the WHO, with all variants available in Vietnam at present.

In Vietnam, the Sinopharm's Vero Cell vaccine is tested by the National Institute for Control of Vaccines and Biologicals (the Ministry of Health) according to the strict procedures and is certified before being used for injection for the people. The Sinopharm vaccine has been issued with an emergency and conditional circulation registration number by the Ministry of Health in the Decision No. 7929/QĐ-BYT dated July 08.

The Sinopharm vaccine has been pre-approved by the World Health Organization and is part of the COVAX Facility system, so Vietnam's testing also complies with the WHO guidelines for emergency COVID-19 vaccines.

Quality control includes many contents: Review of production records, samples of product batches, NRA release permits from the host country, manufacturer's certificate of COA analysis, assessment of cold storage lines during the import and transport of vaccines (to issue the certificates of batch release before circulation), etc.

The control of the Sinopharm vaccine, like other Covid-19 vaccines that have previously returned to Vietnam, is conducted according to the strict procedures. This is a mandatory rule.

The Ministry of Health affirmed that all vaccines licensed and brought to Vietnam for use are safe and effective. The Vero Cell vaccine that is manufactured by the Sinopharm has been licensed for use in 64 countries and territories. It is listed for emergency use by the World Health Organization.

According to the report of the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City, more than 885,000 first doses of the Sinopharm's Vero Cell vaccine have been vaccinated to people in the City. In Dong Nai Province, more than 2,300 Chinese experts living and working in the province have been vaccinated with this vaccine.

According to the Minister of Health, the vaccine should not be selected, if there is any vaccine, it should be administered. All vaccines licensed by the Ministry of Health for use have been licensed by the World Health Organization and used by countries, not this vaccine for this group, the other for that group.

The Sinopharm's Vero Cell is one of six vaccines against the Covid-19 that have been licensed by the Ministry of Health for use in Vietnam, including AstraZeneca, Sputnik V, Pfizer, Moderna, Sinopharm and Janssen.

The Sinopharm vaccine is indicated for vaccination of people aged 18 and older. The injection schedule consists of 2 injections, the 2^nd injection is 3 - 4 weeks apart from the 1^st injection. The reported post-vaccination reactions were mostly mild to moderate and short-lived.

The message from the WHO is clear that when it is your turn to get vaccinated, take the vaccine available to you. It protects you and the people around you. It also reduces the chance of further circulation of the Delta variant and emergence of other variants.
