Provincial New Port Service Center

Nhon Trach District has many advantages to become a major port service center of the province and the Southern key economic region. To achieve this goal, the province has planned a cluster of seaports, a system of warehouses, and the connecting road networks.

In addition, the Nhon Trach District also actively improves technical infrastructure and implements many preferential policies to call for the investors.

Concentrated potentiality

Along with Long Thanh District, Nhon Trach is a district having a lot of potential to become a center of import-export and logistics services. The biggest advantage is that Phuoc An Port and Phuoc An Port Logistics Service Industrial Zone (IZ) are under construction. The difference in this deep-water port is that there are many large rivers (Dong Nai, Dong Mon, Long Tau, Nha Be, Dong Tranh, and Thi Vai) intersecting, close to the sea and close to the largest seaport in the South which is convenient for maritime trade.

As planned, Phuoc An Port has 10 berths with a total length of more than 3km covering an area of 183ha. In operation, the port will be the main wharf area of Dong Nai port, receiving general ships and containers with a tonnage of up to 50-60,000 DWT. Phuoc An Port Logistics Service Industrial Zone covers an area of nearly 550ha is fully planned with services of cargo depot, barge berth, transshipment station, etc. for transportation, incoming and outgoing logistics. The expected capacity of this IZ for container cargo is about 2.2 million tons per year and for general cargo is 4 million tons per year.

For the traffic road, Nhon Trach District has the expressway Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay coming across in the North. The southern Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway is under construction. Ring Road 3 passes through 4 provinces and cities, in which the 10-km section passes through Nhon Trach District is under construction. In addition, the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway, the Phuoc An - Cai Mep inter-port road, and the Cat Lai wharf are also under construction in the period 2021-2025. These are the key roads playing a particularly important role in the connection and socio-economic development of the whole region. The potential for the development of transport services, import-export and logistics services of Nhon Trach District is so promising when Long Thanh International Airport comes into operation. In phase 1, the airport has a capacity for 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of cargo per year. Compared to other seaports, the distance from Long Thanh International Airport to Phuoc An Port and vice versa is the shortest.

Besides, there are 10 Industrial Zones and Clusters in the district. Import and export activities currently depend heavily on the road traffic, while the road traffic system has not yet met the quality required. In addition, localities such as Bien Hoa City, Trang Bom District, Long Thanh District also have many large and small Industrial Zones that come into operation soon causing the high demand for shipping the import and export cargo by the waterway. This is an advantage for Nhon Trach District to develop logistics sector.

In addition, the Nhon Trach District also develops plans for new investment, upgrading and expanding many existing roads. These roads are planned to be built before or together with the construction of Phuoc An Port and Phuoc An Port Logistics Service Industrial Zone. For the projects of the central government in the area, the district will actively clear the ground, creating favorable conditions for investors to start construction and complete the projects as planned.

According to Mr. Luong Huu Ich, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nhon Trach District, under the orientation of industrial development to 2025, vision to 2030 of Dong Nai Province, Nhon Trach District will not develop more Industrial Zones or Industrial Clusters, the district will selectively attract investors into 1 Industrial Cluster and 9 planned Industrial Zones. The district would welcome the environmentally-friendly projects which are suitable for the district's economic and industrial development orientation.

According to the district leader, to create favorable conditions for investors, the district annually organizes the dialogues with businesses to timely solve their problems. Box: Speaking at the meeting with Nhon Trach District at the end of 2020, Mr Cao Tien Dung, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that in the future, Phuoc An Port will become the province's external economic zone. It not only bringing great revenue from import and export activities but also leads to the development of many industries, including services, tourism and urban landscape projects. Along with Long Thanh International Airport, Phuoc An Port will be a logistics center, where goods import and export of businesses happen in the province.
