The Dong Nai socio-economic development plan for the period of 2021-2025 approved by the Provincial People's Council at the end of 2020 has determined the development direction for the whole period. Accordingly, inheriting and promoting the achieved results, in the coming years, Dong Nai will continue to attract selective investment, develop industries with high technology content, agricultural product processing industry; give priority to the development of modern agriculture and high-tech application of agriculture on the basis of forming industrial-agricultural-service zones (combinations) in localities with favorable conditions to create a driving force for development in each region. Effectively exploit and use social resources, improve labor productivity, innovate effectively.

Along with the economic space, it is very important to prepare resources to take advantage of when Long Thanh International Airport project is put into operation, the inter-regional transport infrastructure projects completed is very important. This project is identified as a new driving force to promote economic development, especially logistics services and local real estate services.

For each economic sector, encourage enterprises to strongly promote research and application of science and technology, innovate and increase labor productivity, promote the creative start-up movement, take advantage of opportunities of fourth industrial revolution. Simultaneously, it is encouraging and supporting to form enterprises with large scale, strong potential having high competitiveness, building the business ecosystem of the province.

Accordingly, the province's goal in the coming years is to strive to become an industrial, service and modern province with dynamic economic development based on science and technology and high-quality human resources. By 2030, Dong Nai strives to complete the construction of provincial e-government and smart city, connect to the smart city network of the region and whole country.
