Improve the efficiency of the foreign affairs tasks of the localities

According to Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, the National Foreign Affairs Conference is an important occasion to comprehensively evaluate and draw practical lessons from foreign affairs in recent years. At the same time, thoroughly master the spirit and content of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, conclusions and directions of the Party and State leaders towards Vietnam's diplomacy in order to implement new orientations for the work of external relations, in which the localities and the enterprises are placed at the center.

The 13th Party Congress clearly defined the position, the pioneering role of foreign affairs in the current period is to "create and maintain a peaceful and stable environment, mobilize external resources to develop the country, improve the position and prestige of the country". The document of the Congress clearly states the goal of building a comprehensive and modern diplomacy with three pillars: Party Diplomacy, State Diplomacy and People-to-People Diplomacy.

The report at the conference showed that the local foreign affairs work in the past time has obtained many important achievements, contributing to the overall success of the country's foreign affairs, practically serving the goals of the local socio-economic development. Another highlight is that the localities have focused on cultural diplomacy, creating a connection with political diplomacy and economic diplomacy.

In the past 2 years, despite many impacts from the Covid-19 pandemic, with a synchronous approach, flexible adaptation and breakthrough, local foreign affairs have overcome difficulties, gradually implementing the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress, scored the significant achievements.
