Adaptation to the complicated situation

Ngoc Thanh Phuoc Packaging Co., Ltd (based in Ho Nai Industrial Zone (IZ), Trang Bom District) has a long-term order, the company has invested over US$1 million to import production machinery. From April 2021, the company signed a contract to supply packaging for two big partners, so it is increasing production. When the 4th wave of Covid-19 epidemic broke out in Ho Chi Minh City, the company had 12 technical workers coming from Ho Chi Minh City, so the company actively arranged the accommodation for these employees to stay right at the company. Enterprises built the accommodation to support workers coming from provinces of Dong Nai and Binh Duong in isolated areas to stay and cover related expenses during the epidemic. In particular, all employees in the company have been supported by the company to vaccinate against Covid-19, helping them feel more peaceful in minds in order to focus on production.

The Plus Vietnam Industrial Co., Ltd (Plus Vietnam) (100% Japanese capital) currently has 2 factories based in Bien Hoa 2 Industrial Zone and Nhon Trach 3 Industrial Zone. Because many workers of the company living in the blockade area, the company accept to temporarily suspend some production lines to ensure the anti-epidemic efforts. Workers in the blockade area are given leave by the company and recommended to strictly comply with the epidemic prevention and control requirements of the authorities.

Minh Cuong Phat Paper Co., Ltd (based in Amata Industrial Zone, Bien Hoa City) has half of its employees and even the director of the company are living in the blockade area. Mr. Nguyen Tri Minh, Director of the company, said that to ensure production and health safety, as well as comply with the regulations of the government, these workers were laid off, the rest of workers have to cover all the work suitably based on the rearrangement of production. "Temporarily we have rearranged the production appropriately, stayed at home to comply with distance and isolation requirements. These activities would contribute to the efforts of the government in reducing the epidemic in the coming time" - Minh expected.

Worry about disruption of the supply chain of goods

Currently, the epidemic is spreading widely, a number of areas in the province have started a period of strict blockade to limit the spread of it, especially businesses with tens of thousands of workers have cases of infection such as Pou chen Vietnam Co., Ltd., Chang shin Vietnam Co., Ltd., Taekwang Vina Industrial Joint Stock Company, etc. Those companies have to suspend their production and are urgently testing for workers. The enterprises are seriously worried about the disruption of the supply chain of goods for production and consumption of enterprises.

In general, according to Dong Nai Statistics Department, in the first half of 2021, the industrial production index of the whole province increased by 7.54% over the same period in 2020. This is a rather high growth compared to the increase of 5.1. % of the first 6 months of 2020. Specifically, the manufacturing industry increased by 8.78% (it accounts for the highest proportion in the industrial sector). Some key manufacturing industries had a clear recovery such as: leather shoes; weaving, clothes; rubber and plastic products; beds, wardrobes, tables, chairs, etc. Others have grown more slowly due to the difficulty in consumption.

In addition, a number of industries witnessed a sharp decline such as electronics products, down 11.43%, caused by large inventories, difficult to consume and little production contracts. The production and distribution of electricity, gas, hot water and steam decreased by 12.2% due to the reduction of electricity output by enterprises as specified by the Vietnam Electricity Company.
