Electronics exports grow spectacularly

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, the export turnover of computers, electronic products and components in November 2021 reached US$115.4 million, accounting for nearly 7% of the province's total export turnover. In the 11 months of 2021, the export of the above items was over US$1 billion, increased nearly 38% compared to the same period last year.

Become a major production center

Computers, electronic products and components are industries that have continuously increased export turnover in recent years. Dong Nai has become one of the leading centers in the country in this field and enterprises have become an important link in the global supply chain. Computer products, electronic products and components made in Dong Nai have been sold to over 60 countries and territories around the world. Since 2016, this industry has maintained a growth rate of over 15-20% per year.

Mr. Kim Byunggi, General Director of Hansol Electronics Vietnam Hochiminhcity Co., Ltd (Amata Industrial Park, Bien Hoa City) said: “After a few years of investing in an electronic component factory in Amata Industrial Park, it has been quite successful, the demand for orders from partners increased, in early 2021, the company decided to invest another US$100 million to build a new factory in Ho Nai Industrial Zone, phase 2. The new factory specializes in manufacturing, processing and assembling liquid crystal display modules, electronic circuit boards with a project scale of about 10.8 million products per year”.

The production of enterprises is expanded, which means that the export turnover increases and the market share in the domestic market is also increased. The increase in domestic consumption will help many commodity groups increase the localization rate of products, increase trade surplus, in line with the Government's requirements in the process of participating in deep integration.

Currently, the province has over 80 enterprises in the computer industry, electronic products and components, accounting for 13% of the total number of enterprises in the supporting industry of Dong Nai. However, export turnover ranked 5th among the export items of Dong Nai. This is also an industry with high and stable growth over the past half-decade.

Electronics industry attracting many investors

Over the past 5 years, the computer industry, electronic products and components in Dong Nai has attracted many foreign direct investment (FDI) enterprises. Many large manufacturing factories are invested and built in Industrial Zones in the province to produce electronic components for large corporations in the world. The leading FDI enterprises in investing in computers, electronic products and components are Fujitsu Computer Products of Vietnam, INC (Bien Hoa 2 Industrial Zone), Hansol Electronics Vietnam Hochiminhcity Co., Ltd. Platel Vina Limited, Chang Dae Vina Company Limited (Amata Industrial Park, Bien Hoa City).

Mr. Yu Hie Min, General Director of Platel Vina Co., Ltd. said: “The company belongs to Intops Group of Korea. Recently, Intops Group has decided to invest in another electronic component factory with a total investment of US$30 million in Amata Industrial Park. The factory produces electronic equipment covers and electrical components with a capacity of 400 tons of products per year to increase the quantity supplied to Samsung Group.

The field of computers, electronic products and components, attracts many businesses from Korea, Japan and Europe. In the past 5 years, in addition to new investment licensed projects, many FDI enterprises in this field have continuously increased capital and expanded investment.

Mr. Ken- Ichiro Abe, General Director of Fujitsu Computer Products of Vietnam, INC said: “Fujitsu has invested in Dong Nai for more than 25 years and over the years, it has increased capital many times to expand production and export. Fujitsu's products are mainly electronic components for the automobile, mobile phone, and computer industries, and have now been exported to more than 20 countries around the world.

According to Foreign Business Associations in Dong Nai, the electronics sector will continue to attract many FDI investors to the province. Enterprises investing in Dong Nai have many opportunities to link, expand production and export because the province has many FDI enterprises in various fields and convenient transportation adjacent to major industrial centers such as: Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong Province, and Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province.
