Dong Nai Saves 4 Million kWh Per Year

Thanks to the positive response of companies, government agencies, and masses, Dong Nai is able to save nearly 4 million kWh every year.

It is a necessity to encourage and assist manufacturers and businesses participate in energy efficiency programs

Three fundamental contents: disseminating the use of energy efficiency light bulbs, replacing conventional water heaters with solar energy ones, proving enery auditing services for the company’s customers, calling for people to take part in energy efficiency campaign prove effective.

In particular, disseminating the use of compact lamps and solar energy water heaters is widely responded, exceeding annual targets (Compact lamps – 105 percent, solar energy water heaters -100 percent).

Deputy Manager of the Sales Department at Dong Nai Power One-Member Limited Company said its customers have been aware of energy efficiency lately.

Since then, how to calculate and minimize monthly power costs have effectively been done by a lot of households.

For instance, most households have their houses lit without any scientific calculation. Many a household constantly leave their lights, fans, and air conditioners on, even when nobody is home.

This is a reality that causes a huge waste of energy, which many people never think of.

For the time being, people’s awareness of how to use electricity at a right time of the day has been raised.

Similarly, companies, restaurants, and hotels have set up specific lighting plans for all their workplaces and used energy saving devices in business and production activities and in daily life as well.

Dong Nai Electricity’s statistics indicates that thanks to people’s raised awareness of using power-saving devices, Dong Nai has cut down a yearly consumption of electricity by approximately 4 million kWh since 2006.

Department of Trade and Industry’s report says that the new energy auditing program alone hits by 26.6 percent.

This program has not achieved expected results due to the fact that most companies have not paid much attention to the importance and effectiveness of the program.

This results in an ineffective program.

Therefore, this program must be strengthened in the forthcoming time.

Dong Nai Hotel is one of restaurants and hotels to apply energy efficiency measures actively.

Dong Nai Hotels cuts down energy costs from 6 percent down to 4 percent. A staff of the hotel said that it used 40 to 100 watt light bulbs.

These lamps not only consume much of electricity but also cause the energy consumption of air-conditioning devices in offices and meeting rooms rise. This is caused by the heat emitted from the lamps.

However, after putting 11 to 40 watt compact and fluorescent lamps into use and making more glass windows along the stairs to let the sunlight in, these methods help save much energy.

All the air conditioning systems of the hotel are equipped with energy gauges.

Since energy efficiency programs were carried out, the hotel’s monthly power consumption has seen a great reduction.

According to Department of Trade and Industry, Dong Nai’s energy efficiency programs have brought out positive changes the past years.

To make energy-saving awareness become every person, every household, and every company’s  habit, Department of Trade and Industry will continue promoting information dissemination and giving encouragement and assistance to manufacturers and companies in order that they can participate in energy auditing and energy efficiency programs.
