Dong Nai’s industrial production in the first five months of 2007 reached 24,360.1 billion VND, an increase of 22.6% from the same period last year and fulfilling 39.6% of the annual target.

Compared to that of the previous month, the industrial value of centrally-run sector in May 2007 earned 648.5 billion VND, up 4.6%; of local state sector, 252.19 billion VND, up 1.9%; of non-state sector, 629.05 billion VND, up 0.5%; and of foreign investment sector, 3,465.3 billion VND, which recorded the highest growth rate among other economic sectors.

Accordingly, it is estimated that the industrial value in the first six months of the year will have a relatively sharp increase, earning 29,472.2 billion VND, representing a growth of 22.5% over the same period last year and fulfilling 47.9% of the annual target.  Especially in the non-state sector, the wood processing industry has good consuming market and an increased demand for exports. From doing processing work for foreign enterprises, many enterprises are now expanding to buy raw materials for semi-finished products, explore and look for markets for exports. A lot of enterprises have penetrated into the U.S., Japanese and EU markets.  It is estimated that in the half of the year, the wood processing industry will rise by 38.7% over the same period last year. The ceramic industry grew better than 2006. Customers from Europe and Japan came to visit ceramic factories in Dong Nai such as Viet Thanh Ceramics, Hoan Thanh Private Enterprise, etc. Estimatedly, the ceramic industry in the first 6 months of 2007 will record a rise of 18.1% over the same period last year.
