Dong Nai proposes to the Government to soon deploy traffic to serve Long Thanh Airport

​On the morning of August 10, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Head of the State Steering Committee for important national and key projects of the transport industry, chaired an online conference of the Steering Committee with 33 localities. Attendants at Dong Nai location were Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Cao Tien Dung and leaders of some departments and branches and Long Thanh District People's Committee.

National important projects, the key of the Transport sector, including 9 projects and 31 component projects, including: Ho Chi Minh Road; expressway projects: North-South East, Ben Luc-Long Thanh, Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot, Bien Hoa-Vung Tau, Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang, Ring Road No. 4-Ha Noi Capital Region, Ring Road No. 3 of Ho Chi Minh City; High-speed railway on the North-South axis; urban railway lines in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City; Long Thanh International Airport Project and other highway or transport infrastructure projects. In which, the Ministry of Transport is the governing body for 3 projects and 4 component projects; localities act as governing bodies for 5 projects and 24 component projects; Ministries, sectors and enterprises act as managing agencies for 1 project and 3 component projects.

At the meeting, Mr. Cao Tien Dung, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee reported on the national key projects in the province, specifically with the Ring Road No. 3 project in Ho Chi Minh City, the province has established a steering committee for the project and prepare resettlement area for about 500 households for this project. For Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway, the province has also established a Project Steering Committee, assigned the Steering Committee to carry out follow-up procedures and is preparing resettlement sites for this project. Regarding the construction project of Long Thanh International Airport, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also said that in August this year, the site clearance for the construction of Long Thanh International Airport will be completed in phase 1 ( 1,810 hectares), and ensuring the area for ACV to build the airport does not affect the progress. Leaders of the Provincial People's Committee also suggested that the Prime Minister soon hold a separate meeting to direct the settlement of traffic routes serving Long Thanh Airport when it comes into operation. Because, if not organized soon, the airport will not come into operation as scheduled.

Concluding the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that three strategic breakthroughs have been made under the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress, including institutions, infrastructure, and human resources, including important national projects, the key transport sector. "The XIII Congress set a target that by 2030, the whole country must have at least 5,000 km of highways, while from 2000 to 2021, the whole country only completed nearly 1,100 km of highways" - the Prime Minister emphasized.

Long Thanh Airport Project under construction

According to the Prime Minister, currently, in all three regions of the North, Central and South, major projects of the transport sector are being implemented in terms of railways, roads and airways. Due to the huge workload, involving many localities, ministries and branches, there must be a new way of doing things, in which the establishment of the State Steering Committee for important national and key transport works and projects. The Prime Minister requested the members of the Steering Committee, agencies, units and localities to further enhance their responsibilities and comply with regulations on the basis of their assigned functions, tasks and powers, to perform the following tasks in an active and positive manner without relying on dependence and without avoiding the responsibility. Ministries, sectors and localities must closely coordinate, implement investment procedures, select design consultants, supervision consultants, and quality assurance contractors in the spirit of impartiality and transparency for the sake of profit and interests of the nation and people, while ensuring the progress and quality of the project, while also preventing corruption, negativity, and group interests.

People have lucky draw for resettlement at Long Thanh Airport Project

Regarding the Long Thanh Airport Project, the Prime Minister also assigned the Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Nai province and related agencies to check and proactively solve problems related to the material and spiritual life of the people who have to relocate in the project area. For construction work, the Prime Minister requested that projects related to Long Thanh Airport be implemented synchronously, such as site clearance, resettlement, construction of connecting roads, airport terminals, runways, works of the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Finance in service of entry and exit, import and export of goods.
