Developing mechanisms and resources for Long Thanh District

Mr. Nguyen Hong Linh- Member of the Party Central Committee, Provincial Party Secretary delivered a speech at the meeting.

According to the planning project, the area of Long Thanh District has a total area of more than 43,000 hectares. The population is projected to reach 370-380 thousand people by 2030, and 480-500 thousand people by 2040.

Regarding the orientation of development zoning planning, Long Thanh District will be divided into 5 development zones defined by administrative boundaries, major traffic routes and natural topography. 5 development zones of Long Thanh District include: urban area Long Thanh town expanded and industrial, urban – service complex of Long Thanh; the Binh Son urban area located in the northeast of the district; commercial service – mixed urban area in the west of the district; special functional areas of Long Thanh international airport; industrial, service-urban, hi-tech agricultural zone located in the south of Long Thanh Airport.

Mr. Ho Thanh Son, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, spoke at the meeting.

According to this planning project, the area of Long Thanh District is oriented to become a dynamic economic development area of Dong Nai province, in the central urban area and the easternmost point of Ho Chi Minh City. In which, by 2030, Long Thanh will essentially be a developed industrial district, becoming a grade III urban region. By 2040, Long Thanh District will become a modern urban-industrial center, a global hub for high-quality trade and services, and a modern agro-forestry area with balanced and sustainable development. By 2050, it will focus on improving urban quality, developing according to the ecological urban model.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Linh, a member of the Party Central Committee and the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, concluded the meeting by saying that while designing a locality, the comparative advantages of that locality must be maximized. Because comparative advantage is the model's and development thinking's decision factor. For the Long Thanh District, the main comparative advantage is Long Thanh International Airport, with its prime location in the center of the Southern Key Economic Zone. The Long Thanh District is also near to the Cai Mep-Thi Vai seaport cluster and Ho Chi Minh City's main market. "There is no area with a more favorable location than Long Thanh District in the Southern Key Economic Zone. Therefore, Long Thanh District must become the driving force of development for the whole province of Dong Nai, "emphasized Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Nguyen Hong Linh. As a result, Long Thanh District must be prepared to recruit a population of intellectuals and a highly skilled workforce as part of its population-attraction strategy.

Mr. Cao Tien Dung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, made a speech to clarify a number of items in the plan.

In terms of economic structure, Long Thanh District must reduce agricultural production while prioritizing the preservation of forest land and the development of high-tech agriculture and urban agriculture. To create a modern and synchronized social infrastructure system in which the district administrative center occupies a valuable and advantageous position.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Linh, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, also agreed to appoint the Provincial People's Committee to prepare a resolution on urban development at the Long Thanh airport area at the request of the locality, and to submit it to the Provincial Party Committee's Standing Committee as soon as the Long Thanh District planning is approved, in order to create mechanisms and resources to create favorable conditions for Long Thanh District to develop.Simultaneously, the Provincial People's Committee's Party Committee is rushing to organize a seminar on Long Thanh Airport and future development goals in order to promote Long Thanh District's development thinking and pay any attention to investors' opinions in order to filter out good ideas for planning the district's area.

After the planning is approved, the Department of Planning and Investment prepares for Long Thanh District an investment promotion conference to publicize the planning, publicize the investment attraction list for this plan.
