Dong Nai is the first province in the country to have businesses exporting chicken to Japan. More and more enterprises are in the final stages of procedures for exporting chicken to Japan and other markets by the end of 2018. Pork export is also promising.
At present, Koyu & Unitek Co., Ltd. (Loteco Industrial Park, Bien Hoa City) is exporting chicken to Japan market with the quantity of 200 tons / month. The main export products are processed breast and thigh.

* Possibility of stable output consumption
The products by by Koyu & Unitek Co., Ltd are well received in Japanese market and demand is up to 300 tons / month. However, the company has not been able to meet its production capacity yet, so it is continuing to expand its cooperation with local farms in order to meet the quality requirements of white chickens.
Mr. Tran Khanh Huy, Sales Manager of Koyu & Unitek Co., Ltd., said: "The chicken output of the company only meets more than 60% of the contract. Therefore, the company must continue to look for qualified farms to cooperate to provide broilers for processing. In order to provide 300 tonnes of processed chicken per month as contracted, the company needs more than 125,000 chickens a month." This item is highly valuated by the Japanese market so if the company can fulfill its commitment, the orders will continue to increase, well exceeding number of 300 tons / month.
In 2017, C.P. Vietnam started the preparation for procedures to export chickens to the Japanese market. According to Mr. Montri Suwanposri, General Director of C.P. Vietnam, the price of white chicken raised in Vietnam today is equal to that in many other countries which have a developed livestock industry and its relatively good quality can meet the standards for export to demanding markets.
"The company has basically completed procedures for exporting chickens to the Japanese market. Currently, we are just waiting for the completion of some remaining technical processes, then we expect to export chickens by the end of 2018. The export capacity could reach 2 million units for the first year," said Mr. Montri Suwanposri. This is a great opportunity for the chicken farmers of Dong Nai to have stable output consumption without much worry regarding the price fluctuation.
However, chicken farm owners wishing to become a satellite for export companies are required to meet very stringent requirements in livestock industry. According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phi Long, the owner of a large white chicken farm in Cay Gao Commune (Trang Bom District), farm owners are eager to cooperate with the chicken suppliers to have a favorable output consumption. However, in order to supply raw materials for export companies, besides demanding requirements about the process and technique of farming, initial investment in breeding facilities is also a big challenge, which is twice as much as the investment in a normal farm. Therefore, farm owners must have not only good livestock experience but also abundant financial potential.

If frozen pork is officially exported into this market, pig farmers in Dong Nai as well as the country will overcome the price crisis. However, official export of pigs requires a strict production process to ensure the quality of products.
Mr. Tran Van Quang, Director of Dong Nai Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, said: "China is eager to import frozen pork from Vietnam, this is a good opportunity for businesses and farm owners in the province to cooperate to take pork out of the country. Exporting pork will help the market solve the problem of output redundancy leading to reduction in prices which is below the cost for nearly two years. According to Mr. Quang's analysis, Dong Nai is home to the largest number of pigs in the country, nearly 70% of livestock are raised in farms, the process is strictly controlled and many farms are verified free from diseases by the Central Government. However, in order to officially export pigs to China, the higher requirement on safe livestock disease must be met. Besides, frozen pork export is quite convenient for storage and transportation, especially there is no need to concern about old pigs
