In the current situation, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has organized many activities to strengthen the supply-demand connection in order to help farmers sell their products, simultaneously assist the people living in blocked areas because of the Covid-19 epidemic to access the fresh food sources.

Recently, a series of large wholesale markets such as Binh Dien Market, Thu Duc Market (based in Ho Chi Minh City), etc. have all temporarily stopped operating to ensure the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic. In Dong Nai Province, Tan Bien Market (Bien Hoa city) is still temporarily closed, Dau Giay Wholesale Market for agricultural products and food (based in Thong Nhat District) has only just restarted after the temporary closure. These are the key markets consuming a large volume of agricultural products of Dong Nai such as pigs, chickens, vegetables, fruits, etc., so many agricultural products. Therefore, when those markets become lockdown, the prices of the agricultural products have dropped sharply.

Facing the difficulties of the production areas, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has organized many programs to connect and consume agricultural products in the context of difficult output. Specifically, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has supported many cooperatives and consumers of products that have difficulty in output such as: celery of Phuong Nam Agricultural Cooperative (Thong Nhat District); cassava and sauerkraut products of the Co-Operating Group of Organic Vegetables in Co Dau Hamlet (Cam My District); abalone mushrooms of Agricultural Cooperative Nam Loc, leafy vegetables of Suoi Cat Cooperative (Xuan Loc District), etc.

Talking about the consumption market affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, Mr. Le Huu Chuyen, Director of Nam Loc Agricultural Service Cooperative (Xuan Bac Commune, Xuan Loc District) said, for a long time, the price of mushrooms has been lower than the production cost because the goods have not been transported to the largeer consumer market like Ho Chi Minh City. It is also difficult for our cooperative to sell of this product in the province and to other provinces and cities because the transportation is very difficult due to the requirements of epidemic prevention and control. Thanks to the connection of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, our cooperative has sold the goods better, and the price of mushrooms also increased because supply and demand were connected.

Priority given to the lockdown areas

 The biggest worry of people living in wards of Bien Hoa City where the lockdown due to the Covid-19 prevention and control is the shortage of food and foodstuff. Local authorities have plans and solutions to ensure the supply of food and foodstuff to the people in epidemic areas.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Quan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Bien Ward (Bien Hoa City) shared, now the need to order essential goods, necessities and food of the people in the ward has begun to increase. The ward's supply of green vegetables is still guaranteed from sources such as "self-sufficiency" on the spot with about 6-7 hectares of vegetables growing in the ward, and the vegetables supported from sponsors, etc. The ward government has coordinated with the local churches to deploy programs to distribute food, green vegetables, essential goods, etc. to the local people, especially people in quarantine areas related to F0.

According to the leader of the People's Committee of Hoa An Ward, the ward has now connected with a stable source of vegetables, tubers and fruits. The food sources of rice and noodles are also available that the local people can share together. Every day, when the essential goods were brought to the local area, the ward flexibly arranged 2 specialized vehicles for immediate distribution to the neighborhoods, in which, focusing and giving priority to areas with complicated epidemic situation. The complex has many F0 cases such as An Hoa Quarter where a large concentration of workers, workers have lived in the dormitory.

 A representative of the People's Committee of Phuoc Tan Ward said that the current situation of the supply of essential goods in the blockaded areas of the ward is still guaranteed. The ward has coordinated with Bach Hoa Xanh (grocery stores) and other sources of support from donors to ensure the distribution of essential goods to the people. The ward has implemented a plan called "I shop for you" for people in the lockdown areas. Goods will be delivered to each group of people, the group leaders will collect money for goods that people have registered to buy and then transfer to the sellers. The ward will make every effort to mobilize different forces to ensure the distribution of essential supplies and food for people in the coming days.
