Because the weather is hard and epidemic rises in poultry and livestock on areas of country, agricultural production in the year of 2006 has a lot of difficulties. Due to good implementation of irrigation, preventing cultivated crops from insects, sterilizing breeding facilities, keeping animal in quarantine, inoculating, as well as positively reinforcing servicing activities such as: supplying fertilizer, pesticide and seeds; agricultural-forestry-fishing production on the areas of Dong Nai province still develops and grows generally compared with the year of 2005. From there, total worth of agricultural-forestry-fishing production generally for 3 times in the whole year get 100% of plan (5.5% increase), worth of agricultural production attains 99.89% (5.28% increase), worth of forestry production increases 3.52%, worth of fishing production increases 8.91%. The achievements has been got due to plan for using new seeds, chosen seeds, sufficient irrigation, cultivating according to technological process, immediately preventing pestilent insects, maintaining annual cultivation for 3 crops of 200.392 ha, areas of perennial trees of 117.350 ha, areas of fruit-trees of 54.322 ha.

In the same year, because the weather is inconvenient, the locals conversed 110 hectares of rice cultivation to fruit-tree cultivation in the villages of Long Hung, An Phuoc, Tam Hoa, Tan An, Long Phuoc, An Phuoc. Thong Nhat transferred 64 ha of low-productivity rice for 1 crop, 90 ha of rich soil, 118 ha of stunted coffee to 7 ha of tangerine, 73 ha of rambutan, 10 ha of durian and other trees; Vinh Cuu changed 46 ha of coffee, 100 ha of cashew, 63 ha of longan, 13 ha of custard-apple to 3 ha of mango, 8 ha of tangerine, and 200 ha of grape-fruit.

 Raising of poultry, livestock and other kinds on the area is tendentiously rising, flocks of cow increased 20.5% compared with the same period last year and got 13% of target; flocks of pig also enhanced 5.8% and got 97.8% of target; livestock was up to 2.8% and attained 90.8 % of target. In the year, flocks have 1.206,321,000 pigs, 5.890 buffaloes, 104.483 cows, 5.561 million of fowls.

In the year, agriculture develops especially aqua-cultural section including two main kinds: fish and shrimp; implementing of projects and management of households raising fishes in raft along Dong Nai River; ensuring stable production and avoiding water-pollution. According to estimation, output of aquatic products increase 8.7% compared with the same period last year and got 99.7% of target including rising of fish output 9.0% and shrimp 15%.

Essential solutions in the year of 2007

Agriculture strives for getting worth of agricultural-forestry-fishing production in the year 2007 about 6.663 billion of VNĐ (5.5% increase compared with the year of 2006). In there, rice output gets 326.6 thousand of tons (5.9% increase), maize is about 312.5 thousand of tons (9.8% increase), wheat is about 4.8 thousand of tons (equal to 98.6%), soybean is 5.2 thousand of tons (8.4% increase), sugar-cane is 620.5 thousand of tons (6.8 % increase), tobacco is about 13.2 thousand of tons (59.6% increase), cashew is about 61 thousand of tons (62.3 % increase), rubber is about 55 thousand of tons (98.4% increase), coffee is about 23 thousand of tons (92.9% increase). In raising section, it is very necessary to maintain the total of pig flock, positively invest in multiplication of high-quality pigs for production, and encourage financial backgrounds to develop breeding facilities. Flock of buffalo rises to 5.914.000 buffaloes (2.1% increase), and total flocks of cow have 108.000 cows (3.7% increase).

To get the above targets, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development also puts out specific solutions such as: In cultivation, it focuses on intensive farming, preventing plants from pestilent insects and yellow twisted leaves to increase worth of harvest per unit of area; keeping on plant conversion to the tendency of goods production, selecting high-quality and effective seeds, linking production to market; Applying technological science and agricultural achievements; instructing farmers in using of new seeds, applying biological and processing technology to make competition of products; developing raising affairs by projecting areas for encouraging development of  large-scale breeding facilities; feeding by industrial food-stuff; air-conditioning of breeding facilities; using waste disposal system; planning for central slaughtering sites; well-implementation of inoculation to enhance total herb as well as quality, connecting to safely epidemic prevention; finishing projects of areas of fishing in raft and regulations of Tri An-lake management; developing water surface of irrigating works, ponds, fields for intensive raising of aquatic products; intensifying protection of forest; punishing strictly anyone breaking law of protection and development of forests; additional planting and scattering of big timbers in government offices, schools, and households; directing forestry units and cooperating to local authorities to give solutions for implementation the 08th Instructions of Prime Minister; leading forestry board and agricultural units belonged to district to plan for forest fire prevention and fighting in order to prepare enough facilities, manpower, equipments for dealing immediately with forest fire, and lowering damages; planning for classifying woods and forestry land on map and field; totalizing empty areas for additional planting in the period 2006-2010. About irrigation, it announces irrigating capacity of works for the areas to direct cultivation of suitable area with sufficient irrigation without drought; well-preparation for natural calamity prevention; facing immediately to bad weather; solidifying of canals and investing transport inside the fields; leading company of developing irrigational works and managerial board of agricultural projects to cooperate closely to District People’ Committee, Bien Hoa city, Long Khanh town for speeding up implementation of targets in the year 2007. Besides, it always encourages any financial backgrounds for investment in cultivation, raising, and servicing activities of production of rural agriculture.
