2 packages of Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway project to be deployed for construction

​The delegates are performing the groundbreaking ceremony for implementation of the 2 bidding packages.

According to the Thang Long Project Management Board (Ministry of Transport), the employer of the project, the two bidding packages 1-XL and 4-Xl under the construction investment component project of Phan Thiet - Dau Giay section with the total value of more than 2 trillion VND, in the area of ​​4 communes in Ham Thuan Nam District (Binh Thuan Province) and 5 communes in Cam My, Thong Nhat districts and Long Khanh City (Dong Nai Province).

Previously, on September 30, the Ministry of Transport in coordination with the People's Committee of Dong Nai and Binh Thuan provinces also held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay section under the project of a number of expressway sections on the North - South East route in the 2017 - 2020 period. Immediately after the groundbreaking ceremony, the contractors also organized construction of the 3-XL package in Dong Nai Province. Currently, after more than 1 month of construction, the progress of the package has been secured by the contractors.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Ngoc Dong said that the North - South transport corridor plays a really important role in the country's socio-economic development, including the expressway on the North - South economic corridor.

The project to build a number of expressway sections on the Eastern North - South route in the 2017-2020 period includes 11 component projects, of which, the 3 projects Mai Son - National Highway 45; Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet and Phan Thiet - Dau Giay have been approved by the National Assembly to convert the investment method from public private partnership (PPP) to public investment, using 100% of the budget capital. All 3 projects were started simultaneously at the end of last September.

Regarding construction of the two bidding packages, the Ministry of Transport recognized and praised the urgent and serious working spirit of the agency and the Thang Long Project Management Board to complete necessary procedures for selection of a reputable and capable construction and supervision consultancy unit to meet progress and quality requirements to make the North-South Expressway an exemplary project according to the Government's direction.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Ngoc Dong also required functional units to urgently complete selection of contractors for the remaining package for contemporaneous construction in 2020; and coordinate with localities for site clearance to urgently mobilize sufficient human and material resources for construction implementation.
