Youth Union’s tasks and youth movements in schools in the 2009-2010 academic year: enhancing the quality of union members

The Youth Union of Dong Nai Teacher Training Colledge handles notebooks to poor students

With the theme “The year of traditional education and enhancing the quality of union members”, youth movements in schools always focus on political education, including the effective campaign named “Study and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example”. Many Unions has creative activities such as organizing the diary writing contest named “Studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s instruction”, providing bookshelves, and holding talk shows and story-telling contests about Uncle Ho’s moral example. Typically, the Youth Union of Lac Hong University hold the diary writing contest about President Ho Chi Minh’s thoughts and his testament; the youth union of Tan Phu high school (Dinh Quan district) hold a contest to find out about the 40-year implementation of President Ho Chi Minh’s Testament. As for the popularization of directions, guidelines and policies as well as State's laws, the unions in schools also organized various practical activities such as visiting and presenting gifts to policy beneficiary famlies, taking care of Vietnamese heroic mothers. From these movements, many elite individuals were selected and awarded.

Along with traditional education task, the Union’s activities has been diversified and extended practically such as the movements "Five initiatives to take in socio-economic development and national protection" and "Four fields to travel with the youth". The Union’s activities are always combined with the learning task of union members so that their study can be more effectively. The youth unions of schools presented 561 scholarships to poor but excellent students with a total cost of VND318 million. The Union also founded study encouragement funds and boosted scientific reseach movement among students in order to develop their non-stop creativeness. In addition, youth unions of schools strongly developed all forms of academic clubs or held professional skills contests for the youth, for example, “Ring the golden bell” gameshow by the Youth Union of Lac Hong University, and “English speaking festival” by Sonadezi College of Technology and Management, etc. Specially, picnic, music performance, sports and social activities have been regularly organized for union members.

The Youth Unions of schools always actively participates in voluntary activities

The diversified activities and programs of youth unions have attracted the participation of a large number of students. In the 2009-2010 academic year, school Unions admitted 9 new members, raising the total union number to 97,000. Over the past year, the school Unions also introduced 314 excellent union members to the Party, in which 48 members has been admitted to the Party.   

 One of key tasks of the Youth Union and youth movements in the 2010-2011 school year is to continue to renovate and enhance the quality of the Union’s activities as well as its members by renovating its organization and operation closely connected with creatively deploying the training program named “students of 5 good”.
