Thong Nhat district: local residents donate land to build traffic road

    Hung Loc commune (Hung Nghia hamlet) – Lo 25 commune route with 8km in length is a main road serving local commute and transportation of agricultural products for hundreds of households in 2 communes of Hung Loc and Lo 25. But this unsurfaced road is narrow, rough and dangerous. Conducting rural development project, Thong Nhat district plans to widen and upgrade this route. However, it has met a lot of difficulties in site clearance and compensation for households living along the road. In order to solve this problem, the People’s Committee of Hung Loc commune patiently called for the land donated by these households so that the route’s construction will be soon completed. Mr Do Van Cho in Hung Nghia hamlet, Hung Loc commune, is the first person who voluntarily donated a 1.7ha of land. Remarkably, it is not the first time he has donated his land. Previously, he donated a 4,000m² of land for the construction of local cemetery. The local government said that the total area of land he donated costs about VND1 billion.

Not only actively donating land, but Do Van Cho together with local government also called for local residents to voluntarily donate their land. He stated “Residents in Hung Nghia hamlet, Hung Loc commune has so far thirsted for a rural traffic road. We will sacrifice for the interests of local residents”.

Similarly, Pham Van Dung agreed to give up an area of 2000m² under pepper cultivation in harvest season to donate to the project. This kind of perennial crop is not easy to cultivate and just gives products after several years of cultivation. It he does not donate his land, the accidents will easily happen with many bends. Pham Van Dung has a difficult situation, so his donation has express local residents’ determination to build a new road. He said “For the interests of local residents, I am willing to sacrifice some metres of land to make the route wider and more convenient even though I have lost one part of my land”. Nguyen Van Hien, Party Committee Secrectary of Hung Loc commune, said “During the past time, the Party Committee has mobilized local residents to donate their land to carry out the rural development project. 100% of households until now have registered to donate their land to the project. All above-mentioned results are thanks to the fact that local residents study and follow Ho Chi Minh’s moral example. They have better awareness of their responsibilities in community, encouraging each other to implement the project”. The total area of land that local residents voluntarily donated to widen the traffic road till now is 8.5ha. When being finished, the route has become more convenient for local residents in 2 communes of Hung Loc and Lo 25.

The cases of Do Van Cho and Pham Van Dung donating their land to build traffic road are just 2 typical examples in Hung Nghia hamlet, Hung Loc commune, Thong Nhat district. This proves that once the will of the Party and the heart of the people are in harmony, every difficult task will be done.
