The Red Cross Mobilizes VND 30 Billion in the First 9 Months

The people are mobilized to take part in blood donation

    Following the tradition of Vietnam Red Cross and Dong Nai in program on holding Tet holiday for the poor and Agent Orange Victims, Red Cross Association of all levels mobilized goods and financed to granting 35,685 gifts to them and homeless people with total assets worth VND 5.5 billion  (US$ 340,557).

    Frequent relief activities by the Ress Cross have conducted efficiently. The Red Cross Association of all level has mobilized frequent and unscheduled goods and money aide to 11,252 poor people and government policy refrentiary families, and homeless people with total sum of VND 9.4 billion (US$ 582,043). The Red Cross also gave textbooks, notebooks, bikes, schoolbags, clothes and 2,236 presents to excellent poor students to encourage them to attend schools. Since earlier this year, 888 disabled have been given wheelchairs which helped them in daily life and enabled them to earn their livings by lottery ticket sale and so on. The compassionate noodle pot for poor patients in the hospital continually remained, which has served 67,000 bowls worth VND 183 million (US$11,331).  With the implementation of 2008 Resolution of steering committee of the provincial Red Cross, Red Cross Association of all levels has mobilized capital to build and granted 164 houses of compassion and maintained 131 houses for poor people. In addition, other activities such funeral ceremony, visiting and granting free coffins for poor dead people, rural traffic road maintenance, cleansing of drains, cannels and ditches were carried out. Especially, under the support of American fund for reconciliation and development in Vietnam with sum worth VND 365 million (US$ 22,600), the provincial Red Cross conduct the project to build 7 houses, supported 33 small production households to run their business and 58 Agent Orange victims’ to  families to breed live stocks in communes of Xuan Phu and Xuan Dinh (Xuan Loc district), Long Giao, Xuan Dong, Song Ray (Tan Phu districts)

The Red Cross gives presents to poor children on the occasion of Mid-fall festival

    Public healthcare is one of the goals that the Red Cross well achieved in the first 9 months. The first-aid points and humanitarian consulting-rooms have saved 1,414 lives in the traffic and labor accidents, and treated surgical and clinical diseases. 96,000 turns of people were examined and prescribed in the humanitarian consulting-rooms and Vietnamese traditional medicine groups. Especially the rooms often worked with hospitals, the districts’ healthcare center, provincial board of Army Medical Corps, infirmary of Police Security, and doctor from HCMC to offer free examination and medicines for 71,000 turns of people in far-flung areas. So far, 1.701 eye-disordered patients were under surgeries; 9,456 people were encouraged to donate the same number of blood units, making up 111.2% of the whole year target. Thank to this blood source, the provincial hospitals and regional blood transfusion center of Cho Ray hospital could give timely first-aid and treatment to patients. The Red Cross in districts, towns ant city has mobilized and support to issue 1,407 health insurance cards for the poor so that they could have chance to treat their illnesses.

    There is a fact that vie these activities have helped many sorts of patients such as the poor, disabled and lonely people and orange victims to ease part of troubles in their life and contributed to Party’s Committees and local authority in social policy enforcement.
