Meeting to mark 15th anniversary of Vietnam Association of The Elderly

Descended from the Association of the Elderly People, Association of Life Insurance, in 2000, the Dong Nai province Association of the Elderly approved by the provincial People’s Committee founded the board of representatives of the provincial Association of the Elderly managed by the provincial Fatherland Front Committee. The board is operated like a bridge between the central and grassroots. Over fifteen years, it has gained considerable achievements in the mission of taking care of the elderly, gradually strengthened themselves and developed with membership of 139,000, comprising 93.53% of the total number of the elderly across the province.   

Ms Nguyen Thi Kim Lien handed over a bouquet of flowers to representatives of Dong Nai Association of the Elderly.

With concern and direction of party committees at levels, local authority, it has performed its role well in taking care of material, spiritual like and health of its members, brought into full play role of the elderly via setting good examples, encouraging study and talented, building cultural families, taking part in movements of defending national security and eliminating hunger and alleviating poverty, etc. according to the spirit “the older, the stronger will, setting good examples for the cause of national construction and defense”.           

Addressing the conference, on behalf of the provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, Fatherland Front Committee, Ms Nguyen Thi Kim Lien stressed: “Vietnam elderly people is the generation with great dedication to the cause of the socialist national construction and defense. Respecting, loving, caring the elderly thoroughly in both spirit and material, creating favorable conditions for them to contribute to the cause of the national construction is the responsibility of the whole society”. To do that, she suggested its board of representatives at levels care more about missions of caring and bringing into full play the elderly and  localities actively support the association in expenditure within its capability in order to facilitate more effective operation of the association. It also should promote movements of elders with good examples, study encouragement, talented encouragement in its activities and consolidate its organization to meet demands in new period.
