A Family Has Two Generations Awarded The Title “Excellent Cultural Families”.

Nguyen Dinh Dien’s family stands beside objects donated to the provincial museum.

Leading a really difficult life in the father land (Lam Thao district, Phu Tho province), even not enough money to support children’s study, he and his family left to Long Binh ward (Dongnai) to settle in 1995.

Beginning life to Dongnai with little money and then overcoming a lot of difficulty, he and his wife have done successful business with a company doing in trade, service and transport in Long Binh. Moreover, his family always take part in every activity of the emulation named “ the whole population unite to build a cultural life”, contributing to raise solidarity spirit, actively eliminate famine, alleviate poverty and push back social evils.

In 2007, his family honorably was one of 12 families appointed to attend the national conference “excellent cultural families” in Ha Noi where he met his first son who was also the representative of Phu Tho province in the conference. He said “ At that time, I felt very happy and suddenly had an idea of requesting Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Tho province and Hung Vuong museum to invite representatives of Dongnai province to pay a visit to Phu Tho, Hung King ancestral land. On this occasion, he requested Hung Vuong museum (Phu Tho) to give him reproduction of kettledrum, soil, water of the ancestral land to present to Dongnai museum.

So far, his family still maintain extended family (grandparents, children, grandchildren living together).  Answering about the trick of a happy extended family, he said that the key was that the support of the family must always direct family members to preserve family tradition and discipline and that grandparents and parents must be a good example for children to follow. For the time being, his family have three daughters-in-law, so there are sometimes disagreement in family. However, every disagreement is analyzed in the family meeting. His family always have fund and democracy.

 encouraging effort in study of descendents. With the fund left, he used it to help difficult family in the quarter. He also used the fund (about over VND50 million) to support difficult families with low interest rate. For his family, maintaining death anniversary, tet with the aim of making descendants remember tradition, original point and uniting family is very important. That is the reason why he presented objects to the provincial museum.

One of activities that his family highly appreciate is charity mission. Over the past time, his family contributed VND20 million to support construction of roads, gates, houses in cultural quarter. They also supported their hometown to build cultural house, to repair pagoda with expense of VND120 million. His family also built a café for acts such as playing music, singing, etc. with the aim of creating recreation area so that youth in the quarter can have a place to have wholesome activities and entertainment. 

With these practical deeds, his family honorably received the title “the typical cultural family”, and represented about 450,000 families in the province to attend national conference of excellent cultural families.
