Workers are excited because businesses have received new orders

​(News Portal – Dong Nai) – As Tet 2024 approaches, the good news for many leather footwears and textile enterprises in the province is that orders have returned in abundance, creating jobs and stable income for workers. Accordingly, workers are allowed to work overtime and have new orders to complete more often.

Workers are excited because businesses have orders again 

New orders will last until 2024

A representative of Elite Long Thanh Co., Ltd. (Loc An Industrial Park, Long Thanh district) said that from October 2023, the company had received abundant orders again and guaranteed supply until April 2024. Thanks to that, employees' employment and income were more stable. The enterprise was recruiting about 1,000 workers to complete signed orders.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hung, Chairman of the company's worker union, said that the enterprise currently had 3.2 thousand employees. In the first 6 months of 2023, business orders decreased by about 25%. However, since the third quarter of 2023, orders have returned in abundance thanks to implementing production plans and approaching new customers. “Stable production to maintain jobs for workers is the goal of our company. Hopefully in 2024, employees will continue to stay with the enterprise, improve productivity, and expand production together with the business" - Mr. Hung shared.

Similarly, a representative of Son Ha Company Limited (Bien Hoa City) said that from now until the second quarter of 2024, the company had confirmed orders with customers in sufficient quantity and workers were working stably before and after Tet. Ms. Le Thi My Ha, working at the garment factory, said that from the beginning of the year to now, employees of the entire company had worked hard to overcome difficulties with the business. “Many employees, including myself, are determined to stay with the company for a long time because our benefits are always guaranteed. My wish is that in the new year, the company will have an abundance of orders, production will flourish so that workers' income will improve even more" - Ms. Ha confided.

Wacoal Vietnam Co., Ltd. (a garment enterprise in Amata Industrial Park, Bien Hoa City) is operating stably thanks to abundant orders and motivated employees at the end of the year. The company implements mechanisms and policies for workers and has a plan to coordinate with the worker union to allow workers to have a satisfying Tet holiday.

Encourage employees to overcome challenges together with businesses

The biggest wish of workers today is that businesses maintain a stable production speed and abundant orders so that workers do not have to reduce working hours like before. In addition, many workers want to work overtime and increase their income when the minimum wage does not guarantee a living as prices of commodities increased at the end of the year, putting pressure on the lives of workers.  

According to the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, up to now, the operating situation at some businesses in the province has shown positive signs due to stable orders. The new orders are mostly in the textile, garment and leather footwears industries. Some businesses with orders have started recruiting workers again, creating opportunities for unemployed workers to soon return to the labor market.

One thing worth noting is that in 2023, despite difficulties, businesses still tried to implement production plans and arrange reasonable working hours so that employees can have income, especially during the upcoming Tet holiday. Many businesses change their designs and accept new orders that are not their usual range of products. Businesses said that profits from current orders were not high due to facing price reductions and product competition, but they still accepted them to maintain jobs for workers. In addition, there will be a Tet bonus to motivate employees after one year of working.

According to the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, up to now, 2,148 businesses in the province have reported on the salary and Lunar New Year 2024 bonus of their employees. The average Tet bonus is 7.7 million VND/person. This is the effort of businesses going through a year full of challenges and difficulties in terms of orders. Particularly for New Year 2024, there are 125 businesses reporting expected bonuses from 100,000 VND to more than 15 million VND. The department is compiling the list and monitoring the situation of labor, employment, and stable labor relations at the end of the year.​

At the meeting of grassroots trade unions of all occupations taking place in mid-December 2023, Chairman of the Provincial Confederation of Labor Nguyen Thi Nhu Y said that in the face of the difficult situation of businesses, upper-level trade unions and grassroots trade unions needed to step up in propagandizing and orienting employees to understand and overcome difficulties with businesses at the present time. For large enterprises that have orders and are recruiting workers, this is a good sign for workers. Trade union officials need to closely monitor and encourage workers to actively produce, promote responsibility at work, and work together with businesses to overcome difficulties.
