Upgrading Bien Hoa airport from class 4C to 4E

​(News Portal – Dong Nai) - Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed Decision No. 1485/QD-TTg amending the master plan for development of the national airports in the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.
Specifically, Decision No. 1485 amends Appendix I and Appendix II issued together with Decision No. 648/QD-TTg (dated June 7, 2023) of the Prime Minister approving the master plan for the development of national airports in the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.

Accordingly, changing the scale and level of Bien Hoa Airport in Section 15, Part II, Appendix I, level 4C to level 4E; changing the scale and level of Bien Hoa Airport in Section 18, Part II, Appendix II, level 4C to level 4E.

According to planning, Bien Hoa Military Airport is planned to become a domestic airport for dual purposes exploitation with an operating capacity of 5 million passengers a year by 2030 and 10 million passengers a year by 2050.

The airport was built in 1955, about 30 km from Tan Son Nhat airport in Ho Chi Minh City. Bien Hoa Airport is located in a strategic location, has good visibility. The airport is also at the northeast gateway of Ho Chi Minh City, with takeoff and landing direction nearly parallel and in the same direction as Tan Son Nhat International Airport, with runways close to each other, so it is convenient for both airports to co-operate. On November 21, the Provincial People's Committee also decided to establish the Bien Hoa Airport Construction Investment Steering Committee. This unit is responsible for directing and urging relevant agencies and units to advise the Provincial People's Committee in matter of carrying out investment procedures for Bien Hoa airport, ensuring investment is effective, synchronous and on schedule. For example: procedures for handing over defense land; adjusting the planning level of Bien Hoa airport; proposing connecting traffic plans and auxiliary areas of Bien Hoa airport; updating the provincial planning for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050 and other procedures to invest in building Bien Hoa airport.

Regularly inspecting and evaluating the implementation of contents under the direction of the Provincial People's Committee to promptly remove obstacles during the implementation process. ​
