The press accompanies Dong Nai on its path to becoming a modern and civilized city

Following the merger of the former Dong Nai and Binh Phuoc provinces and the subsequent establishment of Dong Nai City, media agencies from the two localities were also brought together under one roof as Dong Nai Newspaper and Radio, Television (DNNRTV). At the same time, resident press agencies operating in Dong Nai have continued to play an active role in accompanying the city throughout its development process.

Innovating for development

Following the merger, three media organizations from the two former localities: Dong Nai Newspaper, Dong Nai Radio and Television Station, and Binh Phuoc Radio-Television and Newspaper were consolidated into a single entity named DNNRTV. Since the merger, the agency faced a dual task of quickly stabilizing its organizational structure while maintaining effective coverage of major political events and development issues at both local and national levels. Despite numerous challenges during the initial period, the agency has affirmed its role as the city's leading media organization in information and communication work.

Dong Nai's rapid development, modernization and increasingly deep international integration have provided rich material for media coverage in recent years. The city has consistently created favorable conditions for media agencies to operate in accordance with their mandates and has remained ready to provide information in a timely manner.

Looking ahead, city authorities hope that local media agencies and resident press offices in Dong Nai will continue accompanying the locality, with greater emphasis on communications related to socio-economic development, national defense and security, and Party building efforts.

Among the key tasks successfully carried out by DNNRTV has been extensive coverage of administrative restructuring, including the merger of administrative units and the implementation of the two-tier local government model.

In addition, the agency has effectively communicated issues related to socio-economic development, national defense and security, as well as preparations for and organization of Party congresses at all levels, leading up to the first Dong Nai Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term and the 14th National Party Congress. Through these efforts, DNNRTV has firmly established itself as the leading force in reporting on and reflecting the city's vibrant socio-economic life.

In 2026, DNNRTV entered a new peak period of communications work, focusing on proposals to establish 10 wards and officially form Dong Nai City. The campaign played an important role in building public consensus and raising awareness of one of the locality's most significant milestones. This large-scale and long-term communication effort has played an important role in building consensus among officials, Party members and local residents. The campaign has also helped ministries, central agencies and localities nationwide gain a deeper understanding of Dong Nai's proud revolutionary traditions, pioneering spirit in reform, dynamic economic development, international integration and rich cultural heritage.

Nguyen Huu Nguyen, Party Secretary and Chairman of the People's Council of Long Thanh ward, said that since the establishment of Long Thanh commune (now Long Thanh ward), DNNRTV has published numerous reports and features highlighting local developments, particularly efforts to stabilize the administrative apparatus under the two-tier local government model, promote socio-economic growth and accelerate infrastructure investment. According to him, media coverage has helped inspire determination, responsibility and resilience among local officials and residents, enabling the new administrative apparatus to quickly overcome difficulties and operate effectively. At the same time, local authorities have gained valuable information and practical references for their management and governance.

A dynamic hub for resident correspondents

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DoCST), Dong Nai currently hosts four representative offices of media agencies, including two major central-level agencies: Nhan Dan Newspaper and the Vietnam News Agency.

More than 70 resident reporters from 25 media agencies have registered to operate in the locality, with approximately 25 working regularly in the city. Over the years, particularly following the merger, resident correspondents have actively covered socio-economic development, national defense and security, Party building activities and various aspects of local life.

Director of the DoCST Le Thi Ngoc Loan said that Dong Nai has consistently created favorable conditions for media organizations, especially following the merger.

The department has regularly provided timely information on major local events while facilitating media activities in accordance with legal regulations. As a result, resident reporters have been able to deliver prompt and accurate coverage, helping highlight the city's achievements and development efforts, while contributing to investment promotion and tourism development.

In recent times, coverage of Dong Nai has appeared with continuous frequency across national media platforms, focusing on topics such as the effective operation of the two-tier local government model, strong economic growth and the accelerated implementation of major infrastructure projects, particularly Long Thanh International Airport and key regional transportation routes. Notably, during preparations for Dong Nai's official transition into a city, resident correspondents, together with DNNRTV, played an important role in promoting the image of a dynamic and rapidly developing Dong Nai to audiences across the country and abroad.

Journalist Thien Vuong, Head of the Nhan Dan Newspaper Representative Office in Dong Nai City, said that the Resident Correspondents Association in Dong Nai currently has 17 active members. The association serves as a platform for professional exchange, networking and cooperation among resident reporters working in the locality. The association has also regularly organized community-oriented activities, including scholarship and bicycle donation programs for disadvantaged students, as well as educational visits to historical sites such as the D War Zone relic area.

Particularly during the preparation of documentation and procedures for submission to the National Assembly regarding the establishment of Dong Nai City, as well as the subsequent announcement ceremony, resident reporters produced a large volume of vivid and timely reports.

Vuong added that the Resident Correspondents Association recently collaborated with Tran Bien ward to successfully organize the "Dong Nai Moments" photo contest, which attracted numerous outstanding entries portraying a dynamic, compassionate and rapidly developing Dong Nai. The photo collection will continue to be displayed in various localities, allowing more people to appreciate the images and gain a deeper understanding of Dong Nai and its development journey.
