their quality of life affected.

Quality of life declines because of pollution
In 2023, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and related agencies conducted a general inspection of compliance with legal regulations on environmental protection for 10,000 livestock facilities in the locality.
The inspection found out that many livestock farms were spontaneous, had not been granted environmental protection certificates, and did not carry out environmental protection activities which led to the indiscriminate discharge of livestock waste, affecting the health of the environment and people's daily lives.
Many people believe that the current Environmental Protection Law clearly regulates waste discharge practices as well as the level of sanctions against individuals and organizations that pollute the environment, so the livestock facilities does not take measures to prevent environmental pollution are need to be dealt with severely.
Mr. Tran Van Quang (a resident of Long Binh Ward, Bien Hoa City) said that currently in Long Binh ward there are still a few households raising pigs. Although the scale is small, they still cause more or less environmental pollution. Meanwhile, Bien Hoa city has regulations banning livestock farming in the city's vicinity so many livestock farms have to be relocated.
Forced relocation and shutdown of polluting livestock facilities
In recent years, Dong Nai province has developed multiple industries and the development of the livestock industry has made an important contribution to increasing people's income, completing the goal of establishing new rural areas. With many efforts, the province has controlled environmental pollution in industrial activities quite effectively, so it cannot let environmental pollution from livestock activities and waste discharge spread into the environment.
However, the high density of livestock facilities, large scale and number of livestock causes pollution even though there have been many solutions to limit livestock farming causing environmental pollution.
Livestock farming activities of businesses and households contribute to the economic development of the localities, but in order for livestock facilities not to cause environmental pollution, they must comply with laws on environmental protection.
Regarding this, Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Trong Toan said that currently the industry has completed a general inspection of livestock facilities under the province's management, and the districts must complete reports for the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to advise the Provincial People's Committee on solutions to effectively solve the problem of environmental pollution from livestock activities.
According to Mr. Tran Trong Toan, to gradually overcome these shortcomings and bring the livestock industry to sustainable development, in early 2023, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 296/QD-UBND (dated February 24, 2023) on approving the list of livestock facilities that must be relocated and shut down. Currently, the Provincial People's Committee assigns the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to preside and coordinate with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and People's Committees of districts and cities to implement.
“The Provincial People's Committee's direction on environmental pollution from livestock activities this time is very drastic, showing the determination of the provincial leaders to protect the environment from livestock activities in the area. This is considered one of the largest relocations of livestock facilities in the province to date" - Mr. Tran Trong Toan said.
