Reviewing and Finalizing the Adjustment Plan for the Approach Road Alignment of the Cat Lai Bridge Project

​(News Portal – Dong Nai) - On December 30, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang, chaired a meeting with the consulting unit and related entities to review the progress of the pre-feasibility study report for the Cat Lai Bridge construction project, which is intended to replace the Cat Lai Ferry.

According to the consulting unit, the Cat Lai Bridge Project begins on Nguyen Thi Dinh Street, approximately 400 meters from the My Thuy intersection in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City. The project's endpoint connects to the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway in Nhon Trach District. The total length of the research alignment exceeds 11.3 kilometers, with a cross-sectional design including six lanes for motorized vehicles and two lanes for non-motorized vehicles.

During the preparation of the pre-feasibility study report, the approach road alignment for the Cat Lai Bridge in Nhon Trach District overlaps with several projects and a national historical site within the designated construction corridor.

Specifically, for the overlapping alignment between the approach road and two residential projects, the consulting unit proposed a localized adjustment to the planning.

As for the overlapping area between the road alignment and the protected zone of the Giong San Massacre historical site, the consulting unit presented several options, including constructing an elevated viaduct, building an underground tunnel, or realigning the route to bypass the area. After analyzing related factors, the consulting unit recommended the option of adjusting the alignment to avoid the protected zone of the Giong San Massacre site. Specifically, the proposed adjustment involves shifting the route westward while maintaining alignment with the general planned route.​

In concluding the meeting, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Hoang agreed with the alignment adjustment proposal recommended by the consulting unit. She also requested that the consulting unit collaborate with the Department of Construction and Nhon Trach District to further survey and finalize the adjustment plan. The revised plan should ensure avoidance of the protected zone of the Giong San Massacre site as well as the local electrical grid system in the area.
