Hansol Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Trang Bom District) is also in a situation of "desperately searching" for workers. Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Dung, HR staff of the company, shared that their orders are currently stable, and they are continually hiring for multiple positions. However, end-of-year recruitment poses a significant challenge for the business as labor is exceedingly scarce. Each day, the company receives only a few dozen job applications for interviews, but many of these fail to meet the recruitment criteria.

Many enterprises are ramping up production for the year's end, particularly those in garment manufacturing, mechanics, electronics, and food industries. Orders for Q4-2024 and early 2025 have been signed with partners, yet a labor shortage has caused some businesses to worry about fulfilling product quantities on time. Despite offering numerous policies to attract workers, businesses note that, during this period, workers are hesitant to "job-hopping," preferring to wait for year-end bonuses and salaries, thus not actively seeking new jobs. Additionally, the influx of new labor arriving in Dong Nai is quite limited.

For the first time participating in the employment exchange, Asian Blending Co., Ltd. (An Phuoc Industrial Zone, Long Thanh District) seeks to recruit approximately 300 workers for positions such as operators, production workers, production shift leaders, and warehouse shift leaders, offering an average income of 11-14 million VND/person/month. Yet, the company still faces a labor shortage.

Ms. Du Thị Thùy Tâm, Human Resources Manager of Asian Blending Limited Liability Company, stated that the company is ready to welcome workers for various positions with many attractive incentives. Additionally, newly recruited manual laborers will receive training to integrate into their jobs. The company offers policies such as transportation support, housing allowances, attendance bonuses, and 13th-month salary bonuses. However, at this time, recruitment remains difficult even though the company has advertised its hiring information through various channels.

The employment exchange held in early November recently attracted 22 enterprises, seeking over 2,000 workers, 93% of whom were unskilled laborers. Many garment enterprises aimed to recruit over 500 workers each. At the exchange, around 750 workers attended to explore job information and attend interviews. It is expected that about 250 individuals will be hired, primarily in textiles, footwear, mechanics, and electronics. According to Dong Nai Job Placement Center, despite the high demand for unskilled labor, the exchange could only fulfill about 12% of the demand.

Ensuring Benefits for Worker Retention

A representative from Dong Nai Job Placement Center stated that towards the end of the year, enterprises are planning to recruit around 18,000 workers. The center is intensifying its efforts to connect and support businesses in meeting their year-end production workforce needs, particularly for Tet holiday goods. Simultaneously, employment exchanges are being organized, and information dissemination regarding job opportunities is being strengthened to encourage unemployed workers to participate in interviews and quickly return to the labor market.

While many enterprises have resumed operations, expanded production, or are newly established and require a large workforce, numerous workers remain unemployed. Mr. Tran Van Chin (resident of Tan Phong Ward, Bien Hoa City) has been unemployed for over six months and has yet to find new employment. Over the past months, he has attended several employment exchanges to seek jobs, but at over 40 years of age, he finds it difficult to meet business criteria.

Moreover, since early July 2024, many workers in industries such as wood processing and ceramic tile manufacturing have lost jobs due to company failures, production downsizing, or even closures. These workers have made various attempts to return to the labor market but struggle to find suitable positions. Many are forced to return to their hometowns or take up freelance work. This highlights a disconnect between labor supply and demand, with the labor market not operating effectively.

The Dong Nai Job Placement Center emphasizes that workers need to enhance their skills to secure stable, long-term jobs and income. Meanwhile, with labor mobility increasing, businesses need to improve their policies to retain employees both before and after Tet. Particularly, beyond improving jobs and income, attention should be paid to housing, transportation, and the needs and sentiments of workers. Only by addressing these factors can businesses avoid labor shortages when orders pick up and production stabilizes.
