Ensuring site clearance progress of Long Thanh Airport project phase 1

Portal of Dong Nai) - On June 2, Vice Prime Minister, Head of the Working Group on Investment and Construction Project of Long Thanh International Airport phase 1 Tran Hong Ha chaired an online meeting with ministries, branches, Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee and Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) to hear reports on the project implementation progress. At the Dong Nai endpoint, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Tan Duc chaired the meeting.

According to the Provincial People's Committee, for the area of 2,532 hectares serving the phase 1 of Long Thanh Airport project (including 1,810 hectares for airport construction and 722 hectares for the redundant land reserve area), the locality had so far approved the plan of compensation, support for all cases. However, in that area, there were currently 17 households with an area of more than 6 hectares that had not yet handed over the site.

For those cases, Long Thanh District People's Committee said that those were the cases where coercion and land recovery would be implemented. Therefore, Long Thanh District People's Committee had implemented the coercive procedures, recovered land and notified households. After receiving the notices, the households had agreed and committed with the People's Committee of Long Thanh District to move all assets and structures on the land from the coming day of 9 June.

With the project of route No. 1 (T1) connecting Long Thanh Airport, currently, Long Thanh District People's Committee had also coordinated with ACV to hand over 15/60 hectares of land to be recovered in the field. Long Thanh District committed to hand over the entire area of that project to the investor in June 2023.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha said that the Long Thanh Airport project phase 1 was currently behind schedule, in which the main reason was slow site clearance. Assessing that site clearance was a difficult and complicated issue, Vice Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha asked Dong Nai province and Long Thanh district to try to carry out site clearance in a drastic, fair and equitable spirit to ensure the interests of the people. The progress of site clearance was a decisive issue, the highest problem when implementing the project, so the progress must be ensured as committed.​
