Dong Nai needs to develop both low-end and high-end tourism products

​(News Portal – Dong Nai) - Dong Nai province needs to develop both low-end and high-end tourism products to compete with other provinces and attract international tourists. This was stated by Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Ho Thanh Son, at a conference on tourism development on March 20.

​According to Deputy Secretary Ho Thanh Son, Dong Nai has a low starting point in tourism, with few tourism products and a lack of distinctive and high-end products. The tourism services are still limited. Therefore, there is a need to focus on upgrading and developing tourism services and products. Attention should be given to training personnel in the tourism industry. Tourism development must be linked to the development of culture, historical relics, and environmental protection. Developing both types of tourism products will gradually boost the industry's growth.

In a report presented at the conference, Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Loan, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, stated that tourism in Dong Nai has made significant progress and recovery in the past year. In 2023, the province welcomed over 2.6 million domestic tourists and more than 100,000 international tourists, generating tourism revenue of 1.7 trillion VND. 

Tourism infrastructure has been gradually improved, providing more convenience for local residents and tourists. Two new accommodation facilities have been put into operation, bringing the total number of establishments to 133, with over 3,600 rooms. In addition to existing prominent destinations, the provincial government has focused on supporting and resolving difficulties for projects such as the Thac Mai - Bau nuoc soi ecotourism (in Dinh Quan district), the wildlife conservation area (Dong Nai Nature and Culture Conservation Zone), and the eco-resort complex in the Chua Chan and Nui Le mountain areas (in Xuan Loc district)…

However, the province's tourism still faces many limitations and has not yet fully realized its potential and advantages. Existing tourism destinations lack new products and services. Some infrastructure investment projects have been approved but are progressing slowly. Projects implemented under forest environment lease agreements face difficulties due to regulations in the Forestry Law.

In 2024, the province aims to welcome 3.4 million tourists, an increase of over 23%, and achieve tourism service revenue of 2.4 trillion VND, a 41% increase compared to 2023. Efforts will be made to complete investment procedures and commence phase 1 of the eco-resort complex in the Chua Chan and Nui Le mountain areas, and the Thac Mai - Bau nuoc soi project.

At the conference, localities and travel companies discussed difficulties, challenges, and proposed solutions to promote tourism in the province.

Concluding the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Son Hung, acknowledged that the targets for attracting tourists and tourism revenue in the province are still limited, and many potentials remain untapped. Based on the contributions and suggestions from localities and businesses, the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism will study solutions to overcome these challenges. Furthermore, attention will be given to the training of quality tour guides.

The provincial leadership also noted that the upcoming Southeastern Journalism Association Awards Ceremony in Dong Nai would serve as an opportunity to promote and introduce the province's tourism products, as well as its potential and development orientation.  ​​
