Dong Nai launches 180-day-and-night campaign for universal periodic health check-ups

Addressing the ceremony, Director of the Dong Nai Department of Health Do Thi Nguyen said the campaign is a key task to implement the Party's and the State's policies on protecting, caring for and improving public health. The program aims to gradually ensure that every citizen receives periodic health check-ups, with examination results updated to the Electronic Health Record and the Electronic Health Book on the VNeID application, contributing to early disease detection, more effective health management, and improved quality of grassroots healthcare.

According to Nguyen, the first phase of the campaign is being implemented simultaneously in six Safety Zone communes and wards, namely Tri An, Loc Ninh, Loc Thanh, Loc Tan, Phu Ly, and Loc Quang, with approximately 6,000 residents expected to receive health check-ups, consultations, and screenings.

Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen commended Dong Nai City's proactive efforts in launching the campaign shortly after the city's establishment. He emphasized that universal periodic health check-ups are a major policy aimed at shifting from treatment to proactive disease prevention and lifelong health management for citizens. The Deputy Minister requested the locality to mobilize the entire political system to ensure all citizens have access to health check-up services, contributing to the development of a strong preventive healthcare system.

During the ceremony, delegates performed the campaign launch ritual, presented letters of appreciation to accompanying organizations and sponsors, and received support from the National Fund for Vietnamese Children and businesses.

On the occasion, the National Fund for Vietnamese Children provided support worth 500 million VND, including 100 scholarships, 60 bicycles, and 330 portions of milk for children facing difficult circumstances in Dong Nai City. The Central Committee of the Vietnam Young Physicians’ Association also presented 20 gifts to 10 policy beneficiary families and 10 students facing difficult circumstances. In addition, the Organizing Committee presented 10 gifts to 10 needy students with outstanding academic performance in Tri An Ward.

Immediately after the ceremony, doctors and medical staff from Dong Nai-2 General Hospital, University Medical Shing Mark Hospital, Hoan My Dong Nai Hospital, and Phuc An General Hospital conducted health check-ups, provided health consultations, screened residents for common diseases, and instructed them on periodic health monitoring and management.

* On July 12, the Dong Nai Department of Health also held a launch ceremony at the Loc Ninh Boarding Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities in Loc Ninh Ward for the 180-day-and-night peak campaign for universal periodic health check-ups in line with Prime Minister's Directive No. 17/CT-TTg dated May 6, 2026.

The campaign is being implemented simultaneously in six Safety Zone communes and wards, providing health check-ups, consultations, and screenings for approximately 6,000 residents, averaging about 1,000 participants in each locality. The launch ceremonies were held in Tri An and Loc Ninh wards, while health check-up activities were conducted simultaneously in Loc Quang, Loc Thanh, Loc Tan, and Phu Ly communes.

Dong Nai City has a population of approximately 5 million across 95 communes and wards, with a large geographical area and uneven population distribution. To implement Prime Minister's Directive No. 17, the Department of Health advised the City People's Committee to issue an implementation plan and coordinated with departments, agencies, localities, and medical facilities to carry out the campaign across the city. The objective is to gradually ensure that residents receive periodic health check-ups, with examination results updated to electronic health records and the Electronic Health Book on the VNeID application, thereby improving health management efficiency, strengthening preventive healthcare, and facilitating early disease detection.

At the ceremony, Deputy Director of the Department of Health Nguyen Van Binh said the campaign is a key political task of the health sector in 2026. He requested all units to mobilize sufficient resources, organize examinations in accordance with regulations and target groups, ensure substantive results, and avoid pursuing performance targets. He also called for complete and accurate updates of examination data to the electronic health record system, promotion of the core role of grassroots healthcare in managing citizens' health, and strengthened inspection and supervision, using examination quality, post-examination health management effectiveness, and resident satisfaction as measures of the campaign's results.

On this occasion, the Organizing Committee presented 115 gifts to students facing difficult circumstances in the locality. Immediately after the ceremony, residents received free health check-ups at the Loc Ninh Boarding Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities and Quarter 10.

MSc. Pharm. Duong Nguyen Diem Ha, Medical Director of the Ho Chi Minh City-based Servier Pharmaceutical Research Institute of the French Republic, said the campaign translates the health sector's policy of shifting from treatment to disease prevention into concrete action, placing patients at the center and making grassroots healthcare the foundation. As a result, it enables people to understand their health status for better health management and early treatment, contributing to improved public health. She said the institute is honored to sponsor the program, enabling doctors and medical staff to provide universal health check-ups and treatment.

Leaders of Loc Ninh Ward said the locality has more than 32,000 residents, with ethnic minorities accounting for more than 4% of the population, mainly living in Quarter 10. The ward will coordinate closely with the health sector to effectively implement the campaign and ensure residents benefit from this healthcare policy.

Immediately after the launch ceremony, Thong Nhat General Hospital mobilized 41 doctors and medical staff to provide residents with health check-ups, consultations, and free medicine. The team also brought modern medical equipment, including mobile X-ray machines, electrocardiogram machines, ultrasound machines, and equipment for clinical and sub-clinical examinations, enabling residents to access quality healthcare services in their locality.

On the first day of implementation, the program provided health check-ups for 530 residents of Loc Thanh Commune.

Participants received general examinations, necessary tests and diagnostic imaging, consultations on disease prevention, and free medicine based on their health conditions.

The mobile health check-up program enables residents in border areas to access specialized medical services while raising awareness of periodic health check-ups, early detection of non-communicable diseases, and risk factors for timely treatment.

Deputy Director of the Dong Nai Department of Health Van Thanh Binh stressed the importance of primary healthcare, saying that protecting, caring for, and improving public health is a consistent policy of the Party and the State and a key task of the health sector. He said the campaign contributes to gradually ensuring that residents receive periodic health check-ups, thereby improving health management, care, and early detection of disease risks.

Immediately after the ceremony, doctors and medical staff from Dong Nai Children's Hospital, Binh Long Regional Medical Center, and the Loc Quang Commune Health Station conducted health check-ups, screenings for common diseases, health consultations, and disease prevention guidance. Examination results will be updated to electronic health records and linked to the Electronic Health Book on the VNeID application in accordance with regulations.

With a target of providing health check-ups for 1,000 residents on the launch day, the program aims to detect disease risks early while raising public awareness of periodic health check-ups and encouraging proactive healthcare for individuals and families.

The program also marks an important step toward universal health management, improved quality of life, and the development of the grassroots healthcare system in Loc Quang Commune.

* On July 12, Binh Phuoc General Hospital and Hoan My Binh Phuoc Hospital coordinated with the Dong Nai Department of Health to launch the 180-day-and-night peak campaign for universal periodic health check-ups under Prime Minister's Directive No. 17/CT-TTg dated May 6, 2026. The launch ceremony took place in Loc Tan and Loc Thanh communes in Dong Nai City.

At Loc Tan Secondary School, Binh Phuoc General Hospital organized health check-ups for approximately 500 residents of Loc Tan Commune. Participants received examinations in internal medicine, pediatrics, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, odonto-stomatology, and dermatology, together with complete blood count, blood glucose, liver function, urine tests, and ultrasound examinations when necessary. The examinations support early detection of hypertension, diabetes, liver disease, kidney stones, and other conditions for timely consultation and treatment.

Nguyen Van Xuyen of Loc Thang Hamlet, Loc Tan Commune, said: “We were pleased to receive health examinations because local residents have limited opportunities for periodic check-ups. The doctors were dedicated and attentive, which gave us great peace of mind.”

Deputy Director of Binh Phuoc General Hospital, Specialist Level II Doctor Ngo Van Kien, said, “The hospital hopes to detect latent diseases in the community through the periodic health check-ups so residents can receive timely consultation, monitoring, and treatment. All examination results will be updated to each person's electronic health record, providing an important basis for both the health sector and residents to monitor and manage health over the long term. The data will allso be gradually connected to the National Health Database, contributing to improving the effectiveness of universal health management.”

In Loc Thanh Commune, Hoan My Binh Phuoc Hospital provided health check-ups for nearly 500 residents ranging from children to older adults. Residents received general examinations, health consultations, and screenings for risk factors to facilitate early disease detection and improve treatment effectiveness and health management. Through screening, doctors identified several health indicators requiring monitoring, including abnormalities related to blood glucose, the thyroid, the urinary tract, otorhinolaryngology, and several internal medicine conditions. All affected residents received consultation and guidance for follow-up examinations and treatment at appropriate medical facilities.

Tran Thi Hang of Loc Thanh Commune said, "Today, doctors from Hoan My Binh Phuoc Hospital came to provide health check-ups for the residents. The doctors are very enthusiastic. I have been examined and was told my health is stable. I sincerely hope the doctors will frequently come to provide health check-ups for people in remote and isolated areas."

Director of Hoan My Binh Phuoc Hospital Nguyen Tu Anh said, “The hospital has developed a plan and is committed to coordinating with medical facilities in monitoring and treatment during subsequent stages while accompanying the entire process of protecting and improving residents' health.”
